This article describes how to use the Cenosco Word template.
Note
Click here to download the template.
When creating a Word document, use the Cenosco Word templete to maintain the same look and feel throughout our documentation. The number of styles used in the template is purposefully kept to a minimum, while still accounting for some of the most common styles.
The template includes formatting you can keep as is, such as title page, copyright info, table of contents, document history, and more. Feel free to delete the rest of text that was used as a placeholder.
To use the template, simply open it and start writing. Once you're happy, simply save the document as a docx file.
Updating a Preexisting File
If you wish to apply the template to a preexisting file, do the following:
Open the Word document to which you want to apply the template.
Click on File in the top menu and select Options.
In the Word Options dialog box, click on Add-ins in the left-hand menu.
From the Manage drop-down list at the bottom, select Templates and click Go.
In the Templates and Add-ins dialog box, check the box for Automatically update document styles.
Click the Attach button to open the Attach Template dialog box.
Navigate to the folder where your desired template is saved. If you saved it in the default location, use the path: %username%\Documents\Custom Office Templates.
Select the template file and click Open.
Back in the Templates and Add-ins dialog box, click OK to apply the template to your document.
Your document should now be updated and should include Cenosco predefined styles.
Docking the Styles Pane
Docking the Styles pane allows the user to see available styles and switch between them as they write.
To dock the Styles pane, do the following:
Open the Styles pane by navigating to the Home tab on the Word ribbon.
In the Styles group, click the small dialog box launcher arrow located in the bottom right corner (or use shortcut Alt + Ctrl + Shift + S).
Once opened, the Styles pane typically appears as a separate pane, usually flowing over your document content. Make sure that only one Word document window is open, drag the pane to the right, as if you were trying to move it out of the Word window, until it docks.
Optionally, click Options at the bottom of the Styles pane and select to show only styles in use. This drastically reduces the number of styles shown in the Styles pane. It will also leave you only with the defined Cenosco styles.
