Data Alignment Prerequisites
When the term alignment is used in the Handbook, it is used to describe the relationship between objects in your CMMS and in IMS.
It is important that objects within your CMMS are properly mapped to objects within IMS, and vice-versa. Before getting started on interfacing with your CMMS, Cenosco requires some basic data alignment information as described below:
CMMS Flavor
The most basic information required is to understand the type and flavor of CMMS that your company relies on, such as SAP Blueprint, Game SAP, Oracle, Maximo, etc. It is important for Cenosco to have a clear understanding of the structure of your CMMS to ensure that data are aligned properly.
CMMS Structure
The IMS Top-Level Hierarchy will need to align directly with the Asset Hierarchy in your CMMS. To help accurately map your Asset Hierarchy (Site, Plant, Unit, FLOC and Equipment) in IMS, Cenosco requires at least one of the following:
A data extract from your CMMS showing the Asset Hierarchy, OR
Other documentation of your Asset Hierarchy.
Initial Data Synchronization
The initial step in synchronization of data between your CMMS and IMS is to load the data into the Staging Databased, Cenosco’s middleware solution for CMMS Integrations. This can be accomplished in one of two ways:
Push Method: Data can be pushed directly from your CMMS to the Staging database. This is the preferred method.
Manual Method: An export from your CMMS can be used to manually load the data into the Staging database. This method is less preferred because it often leads to misalignment between your CMMS and the IMS Database.
Once the initial dataset has been uploaded to the Staging database, Cenosco will analyze the data to ensure consistency between the data in IMS and your CMMS.
Note
Regardless of the method used to complete the initial upload of data to the Staging database, Cenosco requires a complete, unfiltered export from your CMMS (FLOC, Equipment, Maintenance Plans, etc., depending on the scope of the alignment project) to ensure that the data uploaded to the Staging database corresponds accurately to your CMMs.
