The figure below depicts this process in IMS. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/Degradation Management Final.jpg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T20%3A17%3A09Z&se=2026-10-28T21%3A17%3A09Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=e6vfnYWzSXMnD3vqZ9ZXNXV2LRXSRvSOlk52T9CIaeM%3D) The continues Degradation Management Work Process as implemented in IMS. The [S-RBI Analysis](/v414/docs/risk-based-inspection-rbi-theory) or [RBI 581 Analysis](/v414/docs/api-581-overview) is implemented on the Component level, per [Degradation Mechanism (DM)](/v414/docs/degradation-classification-theory). Components are the separate parts of an Equipment that have the [Barriers](/v414/docs/barrier-types) against the Threats of the DMs. Thus, they need verification through inspection. The implementation of this work process in IMS, including the S-RBI steps, is further outlined in the [Degradation Management using S-RBI](/v414/docs/pei-degradation-management-implementation). For the RBI 581 work process see [Degradation Management using RBI 581](/v414/docs/degradation-management-using-api-rbi-581).
