Ethanol Stress Corrosion Cracking

Summary

Ethanol stress corrosion cracking (eSCC) failures of carbon steel storage tanks and piping containing Fuel Grade Ethanol (FGE) began to be documented in the U.S. in the early 1990s after the usage of FGE in motor fuels increased.  This Degradation Library Module describes the degradation mechanism and provides an approach for modelling the mechanism for tanks and piping in S-RBI.
