w-IMS FCM provides overall integrity status for flange connections: by managing critical flanges during assembly and disassembly; by identifying when and what to inspect on flange connections; and by following recommended practices in AMS RP 4-07.
Version 3.13B brings additional lookup based on materials and temperature, adjustment on speedy bolting pattern and target gasket stress.
Lookup based on Material and Temperature
IMSFB-15226
To make defining flanges easier, FCM will now use lookup tables to suggest values for the following fields:
Based on Operating Temperature, Flange Material and Flange Thickness, FCM will suggest:
- Allowable Stress at Amb Temp
- Allowable Stress at Oper Temp
- Yield Stress at Oper Temp
- Yield Stress at Amb Temp
Based on Stud Size, Operating Temperature, and Stud Grade, FCM will suggest:
- Bolt Allowable Stress at Atm Temp
- Bolt Yield Stress at Amb Temp
- Bolt Allowable Stress at Design Temp
Figure 1: Example of fields which are being populated based on inputs To be transparent about the suggested values, the lookup tables, which FCM uses, can be viewed in the application settings:

Figure 2: Lookup tables in settings Note: For the fields with reference to the Ambient Temperature, FCM suggests values for the lowest temperature in the lookup table.
Adjustments on Target Gasket and Bolt Stress
IMSFB-16898
To build on existing logic, FCM will use the following logic to suggest the Target Bolt Stress and the Target Gasket Stress:
- If the Flange Size and the Class Rating are available, FCM suggests an AMS recommended value for the Target Bolt Stress.
- If the Flange Size, or the Class Rating, is missing, the AMS suggestion will be unavailable. FCM will then suggest 70% of the Bolt Yield Stress, if available for the Target Bolt Stress.
Based on Target Bolt Stress, if all values are available, FCM calculates a suggested Target Gasket Stress with the following formula:

Switching between Bolting Patterns on Protocol
IMSFB-17176
In contrast to the previous version, the Bolting Pattern can now be chosen on the protocol itself. On the Full Flange Protocol, you can choose between a Regular (4 step) Bolting Pattern and a Speedy (3 step) Bolting Pattern, by simply clicking the appropriate option.
In Settings, as was previously the case, a default Bolting Pattern can be defined, which will then be used when a condition history is created.
