Hierarchy Type Configuration in Settings
In the Configuration per Hierarchy Type section of the Settings Menu, for each Hierarchy Type (i.e. Location Type, Equipment group, Component Types, Circuit Types, SubComponent Types) several configurations can be set. The screen is split into 2 sections.
Note: The CSA can add, update, or delete all Hierarchy Types. For sites connected to SAP, the Hierarchy is managed by the SAP/MTC team.
Setting up the Configurations
To set the configurations:
- On the upper part of the screen, use the filter on the right side to specify the Hierarchy Type, e.g. select "Equipment group".
- A list of items for the specified Hierarchy Type, e.g. different Equipment groups like "PIPE" and "VESSEL", are then shown on the upper part of the screen.
- Select one of the items, e.g. "PIPE".
- The lower part of the screen then shows a list of Configurable items available for the selected item, e.g. PM Specs, Component Types, Part Types, Inspection Types, Default Rates, Insp Function, PERF and CML Type. Note: Different items (e.g. PIPE Equipment vs VESSEL Equipment) will have different Configuration options.
- Select a Configurable item, e.g. PM Specs, to configure.
- Use the information below to configure the item.
PM Specs
Specifications (‘Specs’) are labels that identify data about the Equipment or Locations in your organization. Specifications can be classified as:
- Specifications only.
- Specifications and readings.
- Readings only.
Related to specification/reading information is condition information. This is being used in repair analysis and condition history. IMS allows the authorized user to assign spec/values categories to Equipment Types and Location Types and to assign spec/values names to each spec category for a specific Equipment or Location Type.
The configuration of specs/readings can be modified by authorized users (CSA). When one hovers over the specs grid in the configuration section, the editing options are shown. For example, hover on the spec/values cells for an Equipment:
For Category, Spec Name, Qualifier and available Spec Values, an authorized user can:
- Add
- Modify
- Delete
- Copy
Copying the Specs to other Equipment Groups
To copy the Specs (template) to another Equipment Group:
- Go to Settings\Maintenance\Configuration\Configuration per Hierarchy Type.
- Select the desired Location Type or Equipment group.
- Select the desired item from the list.
- Scroll down and then select PM Specs.
- Hover over the desired Spec name.
- Click on the Copy button.
- Select the Equipment Group(s).
- Click Apply.
Component Types
For each Equipment Type the available Component Types can be configured. For example:
- An "AIRCOOLER" Equipment can include Component Types such as "TUBES", "HEADER BOXES" and "NOZZLE".
- A "TANK" Equipment can include Component Types such as a "ROOF", "FLOOR", "SUMP" and "SHELL".
An authorized user can update, add, and delete Component Types per Equipment Type and select the Default type.
This is commonly used for the RBI setup, each Equipment group has a determined number of Components, e.g. the Equipment group “AIRCOOLER” has the Component Types listed below.
Part Types
The Part Types are subcomponents or items that can be selected to further describe a section of Equipment, e.g. for an “AIRCOOLER” we have "Cover", "Ferrules", "Flanges", "General", "Ground Wire", etc.
Inspection Types
There are 4 types of (effective) Inspection Types available: "CAIR", "INSPECTION", "RBI RE-ASSESSMENT" and "DEFAULT".
To speed up Schedule creation, default data can be defined here for the following fields:
- Schedule driver
- Responsible discipline
- Schedule category
- User NID.
Note: This data can also be defined in Inspection/Schedules \ Inspection Types (see Inspection/Schedules). To prefill the above fields, IMS will first check if default values are defined in the Configuration and use that, if not defined here, the default values from Inspection/Schedules Settings will be used.
Inspection Default Settings
You can establish time interval defaults and maximum values for each Inspection Type per Location Type. This may include all or no Special Emphasis information. To enter default Settings, the Inspection Type must be allowed for the Location Type selected.
The Default and Maximum intervals can be modified based on the selected Special Emphasis. In order to assign a Special Emphasis to a Default Setting, the Special Emphasis itself must be registered in Settings \ Inspection/Schedules \ Special Emphasis (see Inspection/Schedules).
To enter an Inspection Default Setting:
- Click on the + button on top of the lower grid.
- A new window pops up in which the desired Schedule Type and Intervals can be populated. Make sure that:
- The Default Interval is less than or equal to the Maximum Interval.
- The Effective Date is populated.
Note: Time intervals are not recalculated when changes in the default or maximum intervals are applied in the Settings. The affected items should therefore be recalculated afterwards.
Default Rates
For each Equipment group default Corrosion Rates (CRs) can be set, as well as the default Interval Factor (IF).
Insp Function
An Inspection Function Configuration is an Inspection Event per Equipment/Location Type, and its associated Approval level. This feature allows the user to set up the different Inspection Functions and the Schedule Types.
Percentage Examination Required Factors (PERF)
The Percentage Examination Required Factor (PERF) is used to set a safety factor used in calculating the Next Inspection Date (NID) of a corrosion Circuit. A corrosion Circuit can consist of multiple CMLs, in which not each CML must be measured by the inspection date, but only enough readings must be taken to get a good statistical example. This minimum is called the PERF requirement.
PERF values are set according to Inspection Reasons and Equipment Types. In the end, all safety factors (including PERF) are multiplied together and divided into the remaining life (# of years) to calculate the inspection interval.
The information shown in this PERF grid is for information only, changes cannot be applied manually.
For more information on PERF see PEI Corrosion Calculations and Calc Summary.
CML Type
For each Equipment group, the default CML Types can be defined here by the Focal Point.
To add CML Types to the Equipment group:
- On the upper right part of the screen, use the Hierarchy Type filter to select "Equipment group".
- From the list, select the Equipment group you want to add CML Types.
- Click on CML Types.
- Click the Plus button.
- Select the applicable CML Type from the drop-down menu.
- Click Save.
