PL ILI Comparison - Match Defects and Corrosion Rates - Charts
Take note
This overview will explain how to use and read the data in the lower left pane of the ILI Comparison module in IMS PLSS.
The lower left pane of the ILI Comparison module contains four tabs with graphs:
Flaw match depth vs. distance.
Flaw orientation vs. distance.
CR vs. distance.
CR distribution.
The graphs are based on the data in the table in the right lower pane.
Flaw Match Depth vs. Distance
The Flaw match depth vs distance tab shows the Depth and the Distance along the Pipeline of Run 1 and Run 2 Defects and indicates whether they match.
This graph shows:
Run 1 Defects are represented in blue squares, utilizing the Adjusted Distance.
Run 2 Defects are shown as red circles and are based on the Absolute Distance.
Defects with a match are represented as filled squares or circles.
Defects without a match are shown as outlined squares or circles.
A black line indicates a unique match between Run 1 and Run 2 Defects.
A red line indicates a Defect has a match with two or more Defects.
Below the graph, you will find the adjustment controls to tailor your view. Use the Matched ILI Data column to filter matched Defects from Run 1, Run 2, both, or hide them. The Unmatched ILI Data column offers similar options for unmatched Defects. Select “Absolute” depth or “Percentage of WT” in the Depth column. Check the "Multi Match Only" checkbox to view only Defects with multiple matches.
Zooming in on the Chart
You can select the area on the chart to zoom in on in order to see the details.
To zoom in:
Click and hold your mouse on the starting point of the area you want to zoom in on the chart.
While holding the mouse button down, drag the cursor to create a rectangular frame around the specific region you want to magnify.
Release the mouse button once the frame encompasses the desired area.
The system will automatically zoom in on the selected region, enlarging it to fill the chart area.
Zooming out on the Charts
To zoom out on the Chart:
Click with the right mouse button anywhere on the chart.
Click Unzoom.
Unmatching Defects from the Chart
To unmatch matched defects from the Chart:
Right-click on the Matched Defect you want to unmatch.
Click Unmatch.
The results will be stored in tab User Interventions in the lower right pane and will be taken into account after clicking the Calculate button in the upper right pane. Note that the red Double match line will be showen in the plot as long as the Calculate button has not been clicked.
Flaw Orientation vs. Distance
The Flaw orientation vs distance graph illustrates the relationship between Defect Orientation and Distance along the Pipeline. The color coding for Defects and connecting lines aligns with the previous graph.
In the Type column below the graph, two have two display options:
“Points”, shows the Defects as points (circles or squares).
“Rectangles”, shows a Rectangle around the defects with sizes length x width.
Note: As Defects can be rather small, to see the rectangles surrounding the Defects, zoom in closely on the specific Defect.
CR vs Distance
The CR vs distance graph shows the estimated Corrosion Rate in relation to Distance.
The blue circles represent Corrosion Rates for Internal Defects, while the pink circles indicate Corrosion Rates for External Defects. Hover over the circles to view their specific Corrosion Rates. You can use the checkboxes below the plot to choose whether to display only “Internal” Defects, only “External” Defects, or both.
CR Distribution
The CR distribution graph shows the histogram of the Corrosion Rates.
In the example on the image above, the Minimum and Maximum values of the x-axis range from “-1” to “+1”, and the Corrosion Rates are grouped into intervals of 0.1 mm/year, referred to as the Bin size.
The system allows you to modify these values by entering different numbers in the designated fields. Once the values are modified, the graph will update automatically to reflect the changes.
