Since the RCM Equipment are located under Flocs, this tutorial assumes that the Flocs are created already.
Creating new Equipment
Permission: RCM Custodian
A new Equipment should always be placed in the asset hierarchy under a Floc and it can be created in two ways, either manually or via data import. Using data import enables to create a series om multiple equipment in an efficient way.
Note: We leave a data interface between RCM and a system like SAP out of scope here.
Manually adding an Equipment
- Go to the Equipment Main Screen grid using the main navigation bar.
- Click on + next to Equipment list.
- Search the parent Floc-Id through the scoping bar, allowing to select Flocs particular Site’s, Plants and Units:
Select the SAP Type from the pull down list. The pull-down list is pre-selected by the Floc-type of the parent Floc.
The SAP Equipment Type provides a finer granularity of equipment types than the Floc type, enabling a more accurate description of the build-up of the Equipment installed. - Complete the fields, making sure all the yellow – mandatory fields are populated.
- Click Save to enter the data.
Importing Multiple Equipment
Entering new Equipment manually is not effective in the case where multiple Equipment need to be entered, moreover using an upload approach for objects can help avoid erroneous entries.
For for more information on the Import Wizard see Importing Data via Settings. See also the instruction video: Floc and Equipment Upload Episode 1 Video.
Below an example where multiple Equipment are added using an import list, is given.
1. Go to the Equipment Main Screen grid using the main navigation bar.
2. Click on Import button to open the Import Wizard
3. Select import type: Equipment and download the Equipment.ImportTemplate.
4. Open the Equipment.Import-Template to populate the Equipment and fields desired. Note: In case of doubt on what data to enter, you can first use the Export button in the Equipment Main Screen to export some Equipment data to see how it should look.
Take note that in this case Single Import is selected.
5. Enter the data in the template: Where only Equipment P-01C was created manually before, we now also create Equipment P-01A and P-01B, as well as their drivers PM-01A, PM-01B and PM-01C. To this extend a set of Equipment data is entered in each row of the Equipment.ImportTemplate excel file. Save the import file in a location known. For key import fields in excel ‘data validation’ is applied, for instance at SAP Type. Be aware that when copying data-fields in Excel, this data-validation may get lost.
6. In the Import Wizard make sure you have selected Equipment then click Browse and navigate to the Equipment.ImportTemplate excel file. Note: The import file comes with one sheet \ Data /, for multiple uploads - extra sheets can be created. When multiple sheets are found – the sheet to be uploaded should firstly be selected.
7. Click Next.
8. A data validation takes place and the validation results are shown. In case the yellow fields show poor or no data – you may be running a wrong import (for instance Floc’s import data instead of Equipment import data ). Check these results with the intended import and in case of unexpected results go Back.
After finishing the Import Wizard the added Equipment are shown in the Equipment grid.
Export for Import
In situations where data is already available in the form of existing Equipment, functionality is available to export these as a basis for Import. In this way powerful imports are available to build your asset hierarchy.
