This article explains how to use the Search functionality in the IMS Handbook.
The IMS Handbook enables you to quickly find topics and specific terms by entering keywords into the search bar and to filter the articles by title.
You can access the search functionality from multiple locations within the Handbook:
From the IMS Handbook Homepage, where the Search bar is placed in the center at the top of the page:

The search bar is positioned centrally along the upper section of the Homepage.
From any other page in the Handbook, where the Search bar is placed in the upper right corner:

Using the Search Bar
To search for a term or keyword on the Homepage or on any page within the Handbook:
Navigate to the Homepage or any other page of the IMS Handbook.
Click on the Search bar or press <CTRL> + <K>.
A pop-up search window will appear.
Enter the term or a keyword you want to search for.
Search Results in the Search Bar
As you start typing, results will be displayed within the search pop-up window.
Click All to view all results.
Click Articles to view only article results.
Click Category to see only categories with titles that include your keyword. Note: The Category option is only available if the Search category titles checkbox is selected. You can check this by clicking the Funnel button to the left of the search bar. It should be checked by default.

Click on any result to open the corresponding article or category in the Handbook.
or
Click Clear on the right of the Search bar to reset your search.
Advanced Search Filters
For more precise control over your search results, the IMS Handbook offers advanced filtering options beyond basic search refinement.
To use Advanced Search Filters:
Open the Search bar as explained above.
Click on More article filters in the lower right corner of the search Bar.

The page that opens enables you to select one or more Handbook versions to search within, as well as filter by Language, Tags, Contributors, Date, or Categories.
Take Note
It is especially useful to use the Categories filter, e.g., to only search in the PEI module or only in the Release Notes.

Asking AI
You can also choose to ask AI, instead of searching through the documents. To do so:
Click on the Search bar.

Type your question.
Click <Enter>.
The AI answer will be generate in the blue area.
If needed you can add a follow-up question to continue the conversation.

Click <Enter> again.
A follow-up AI answer will be generated.
Click the circled numbers to open the relevant links and verify the information provided.
Searching in an Older Version of the Handbook
By default only the latest version of the Handbook is searched.
To search in a different version:
Click on the Funnel button.
A drop-down menu will appear with several options.
Choose your preferred search scope:
“Current workspace”: Searches only within the currently active Handbook version.
“All workspaces”: Searches across all available Handbook versions.
“Specific”: Restricts the search to one or more selected Handbook versions.

If you chose “Specific”, click on the field beneath this option and select the desired Handbook version(s) by ticking their checkboxes..
Click Apply.
