Data are extracted from IMS using the Data Lake service. The information available in the Data Lake is synchronized with the IMS database every five minutes. The Data Lake relies on the OData to allow you to query and update data using web protocols. Access to the Data Lake is secured with OAuth2 and the authorization process is handled by the CenAuth identity service. ![image.png](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/image%28102%29.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T17%3A35%3A45Z&se=2026-10-28T18%3A35%3A45Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=KNjn%2F7IjmqEgJ3aevdLH%2FDIfbaQ2kFss2cdNuOHW7Ks%3D) Data Lake workflow. **Note:** Access to the Data Lake is read-only and query results are limited to a maximum of 5000 rows per request. The allowable frequency of requests may be limited to maintain database usability and availability for other users. This section of the Handbook describes: - How to authenticate with the [CenAuth Identity Service](/docs/cenauth-authentication). - How to [Submit Queries](/v414/docs/submitting-data-requests) to the Data Lake. - Several [examples of Data Lake Queries](/v414/docs/example-data-lake-queries).
