Article summary

This online manual explains how to create Queries to show PLEs defined, PLEs assigned and PLEs used.

These Queries can be used to manage and update PLEs in RCM.

Query - PLEs Defined (with Rates and Timing)

This "PLE Defined" Query gives insight in the number and values of the PLEs present in the Units. As there can be multiple PLE's and multiple units, an overview list of all PLE's.

This Query (Base view: "FlocPLE") is recommended for listing "PLEs Defined" in Units, while reporting the Rates and Timings:

The Query result shown in an Excel pivot table (Rate 5 values) compared with the PLEs defined at Unit level:

Query - PLEs Used (with MEI)

This Query is recommended for listing "PLEs Used" in Analyses while reporting the MEI, MEI Category and Criticality. Also, Residual Risk data is available.

This Query can show the PLEs actually used in Analyses, where due to copy-actions ‘alien PLEs’ can be found in a unit. The Query uses the Base view "vwRCMData" and shows PLE, Floc, Equipment, System data, MEI and Criticality data.

When new PLEs are created, one should decide from the "PLE Used" Query how the PLEs should be replaced.
The effects of PLE replacement on the Criticalities and MEIs can be shown by running this Query before and after the PLE update.

During the process of updating PLEs one might want to show the progress, where above Query is recommended to be updated as pivot table and with the ‘unit’ selected a criterium:

The same Query can also be useful to illustrate the Criticalities per System and the MEI Class per System (run before and after the PLE update). (Class 0: MEI=0, Class 1: 0<MEI<1; Class 2: 1<MEI<2; Class3: 2<MEI<5; Class 4: MEI>5)

Query - PLEs Assigned to Functional Failures

This Query is recommended for listing "PLEs Assigned" to Functional Failures of Systems.

Note that under a Unit, multiple Systems can reside. Each System can have multiple Functions defined. Each Function can have multiple Functional Failures defined, each having a PLE.

With this Query these PLEs are shown, enabling to verify the ‘old’ PLEs are updated, and no old PLEs are referenced anymore. When on a Functional Failure an outdated PLE is used, newly created Analyses will inherit this outdated PLE, potentially causing incorrect results.
