The Hydrocor Light version is a simplified version of Hydrocor. It predicts the Unmitigated Corrosion Rate, for a single point, in a carbon steel pipeline or similar Equipment, at a water full system, based on the latest CO2, Organic Acid, and Sour corrosion models. No flow model is included in Hydrocor Light.
Note: IF you do not have a license for Hydrocor you will by default have access to Hydrocor Light.
Starting a Hydrocor Light Assessment
To start a Hydrocor Light assessment:
- Find you Equipment
- Click the Internal Corrosion button to open the Internal Corrosion Details Page.
- Go to the Hydrocor section.
- Click the Plus button to start a new Assessment.
- Add a Date, a Name, and Description. You can also create a Copy from a previous Case.
- Click Save.
Entering the Data
The input section allows you to enter the process conditions at a specific point, for which you want to evaluate the corrosivity.
To enter the process conditions at a specific point:
- Click the Edit button.
- Enter values for
- CO2 content of the gas.
- H2S content of the gas.
- Temperature.
- Pressure.
- Total acetic acid + acetates in water.
- Total alkalinity (expressed as Bicarbonate).
- Chlorides.
- Velocity.
Note: Default values will already be entered.
- By default Scale protection is checked and IMS will take credit for FeCO3 protection. If you do not want to take credit for Scale protection uncheck this option.
- Click the Save button.
- Click the Hydrocor button to run the calculation.
Reviewing the Results
After you clicked the Hydrocor button, the results will be calculated.
The output includes:
- The Unmitigated Corrosion Rate.
- The in-situ pH.
Assumptions
Take note that the predicted Unmitigated Corrosion Rate is:
- For a single point.
- In a carbon steel pipeline, or similar Equipment.
- At a water full system, and
- Is only based on the latest corrosion models for:
- CO2,
- Organic Acid, and
- Sour corrosion.
Creating additional Cases
To start an addition Assessment Case:
