It predicts the Unmitigated Corrosion Rate, for a single point, in a carbon steel pipeline or similar Equipment, at a water full system, based on the latest CO2, Organic Acid, and Sour corrosion models. No flow model is included in Hydrocor Light. Note: IF you do not have a license for [Hydrocor](/v414/docs/hydrocor) you will by default have access to Hydrocor Light. ## Starting a Hydrocor Light Assessment To start a Hydrocor Light assessment: - Find you Equipment - Click the *Internal Corrosion* button to open the Internal Corrosion Details Page. - Go to the **Hydrocor** section.![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201(782).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T19%3A57%3A47Z&se=2026-10-28T20%3A57%3A47Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=eWFa9eembAFzqBRGUdcqtH%2BQ9FCD%2BCiECN2gaFb8R90%3D)Go to your Equipment's Internal Corrosion Page and then to the Hydrocor section. - Click the *Plus* button to start a new Assessment.![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201(783).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T19%3A57%3A47Z&se=2026-10-28T20%3A57%3A47Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=eWFa9eembAFzqBRGUdcqtH%2BQ9FCD%2BCiECN2gaFb8R90%3D)Click the Plus button. - Add a Date, a Name, and Description. You can also create a Copy from a previous Case. - Click **Save**. ## Entering the Data The input section allows you to enter the process conditions at a specific point, for which you want to evaluate the corrosivity. Take NoteThe Measuring Units can be either metric to imperial. This is selected in the IMS header menu: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201(784).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T19%3A57%3A47Z&se=2026-10-28T20%3A57%3A47Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=eWFa9eembAFzqBRGUdcqtH%2BQ9FCD%2BCiECN2gaFb8R90%3D)Measurement Units setting.  To enter the process conditions at a specific point: - Click the *Edit* button. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201(791).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T19%3A57%3A47Z&se=2026-10-28T20%3A57%3A47Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=eWFa9eembAFzqBRGUdcqtH%2BQ9FCD%2BCiECN2gaFb8R90%3D) - Enter values for - CO2 content of the gas. - H2S content of the gas. - Temperature. - Pressure. - Total acetic acid + acetates in water. - Total alkalinity (expressed as Bicarbonate). - Chlorides. - Velocity. Note: Default values will already be entered. - By default Scale protection is checked and IMS will take credit for FeCO3 protection. If you do not want to take credit for Scale protection uncheck this option. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201(786).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T19%3A57%3A47Z&se=2026-10-28T20%3A57%3A47Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=eWFa9eembAFzqBRGUdcqtH%2BQ9FCD%2BCiECN2gaFb8R90%3D)By default IMS takes credit for Scale protection.  - Click the *Save* button. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201(787).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T19%3A57%3A47Z&se=2026-10-28T20%3A57%3A47Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=eWFa9eembAFzqBRGUdcqtH%2BQ9FCD%2BCiECN2gaFb8R90%3D)When you have entered the process conditions, click the Save button. - Click the *Hydrocor* button to run the calculation. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201(788).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T19%3A57%3A47Z&se=2026-10-28T20%3A57%3A47Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=eWFa9eembAFzqBRGUdcqtH%2BQ9FCD%2BCiECN2gaFb8R90%3D)Click the Hydrocor button to run the calculation.  ## Reviewing the Results After you clicked the *Hydrocor* button, the results will be calculated. The output includes: - The Unmitigated Corrosion Rate. - The in-situ pH. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201(789).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T19%3A57%3A47Z&se=2026-10-28T20%3A57%3A47Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=eWFa9eembAFzqBRGUdcqtH%2BQ9FCD%2BCiECN2gaFb8R90%3D)The calculated output.  ### Assumptions Take note that the predicted Unmitigated Corrosion Rate is: - For a single point. - In a carbon steel pipeline, or similar Equipment. - At a water full system, and - Is only based on the latest corrosion models for: - CO2, - Organic Acid, and - Sour corrosion. ## Creating additional Cases To start an addition Assessment Case: - Click the *Plus* button again. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201(790).png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T19%3A57%3A47Z&se=2026-10-28T20%3A57%3A47Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=eWFa9eembAFzqBRGUdcqtH%2BQ9FCD%2BCiECN2gaFb8R90%3D)
