Article summary

Take Note

This article illustrates how to add FLOCs manually. When there is an active SAP interface for the Site, FLOCs should not be created manually. In this case the creation of new FLOCs is facilitated through the interface (FLOCs are mastered in SAP).

FLOCs can be created in Bulk through the data import feature.

Alternatively, to create a FLOC:

  • Go to the IMS Main Menu.
  • Click FLOC to go to the FLOC Main Screen (Grid List).
  • Click + to create a new FLOC.
Go to the FLOC main menu and click +
  • Enter the required data in the pop-up window. See the table below.
  • Click Save when done.

The new FLOC will be created, and you will be redirected to the detail page of the FLOC that was just created.

When adding a new FLOC with invalid data, an invalid Unit location or an invalid Plant location, a warning will be displayed, and the FLOC will not be saved. A new FLOC can be added for an inactive Plant or inactive Unit. In this case, the new FLOC will be inactive as well.

FLOC pop-up fields:

FieldDescription

Parent ID

ID of the Unit for the new FLOC.

Hierarchy

Hierarchy path for the new FLOC: Site, Plant, Unit. Note: the hierarchy is read-only.

FLOC ID

Name of the FLOC, often based on a standard naming convention.

FLOC Description

Short description for the new FLOC.

Location Type

Hierarchy Type of the new FLOC, such as PIPE-FLOC, AIRCOOLER-FLOC or EXCHANGER-FLOC. In the past this determined which Equipment Groups will be available. However in v3.14 this relationship has been removed.

Startup date

Date of installation.

Inspection Reason

Inspection Reason for the FLOC (e.g. CLASS 1, CLASS 2).

Important

The Inspection Reason is one of the elements that determine the time-based interval of the Equipment's Thickness Measurements (Corrosion Schedule). It is inherited from the FLOC to the Equipment and Circuit.

Type of Circuit

Time-Based Interval

Class 1

5 years

Class 2

10 years

Class 3

10 years

Class 4

Optional

  • Affects Corrosion Schedules of Equipment Group Pipe / Piping.
  • Based on API 570.
  • If site is not following this standard, recommended to use Class 3 or local jurisdictional requirements.
  • Change of Class for existing Pipe / Piping will trigger a new corrosion calculation with Approval.
  • Class 4 does not have a Default Schedule. Class 4 is for non-inspectable (or non-critical) items where inspection is not required and the strategy will be "fix on failure".
By default, Equipment are recommended to be categorized under Class 2.

Note: Schedules can be filtered in the the Schedules Main Screen grid by Inspection Reason with the Floc Inspection Reason filter. You can also show the Inspection Reason in the Schedule Main grid. This column is hidden by default but can be made visible through Settings.

Legal / local inspection / jurisdiction

Specify if this is applicable.

Active

Should be checked for an active FLOC.

SCE Applicable

Yes / No (default is no)
