RCM Analysis - Review & Update via grid
The 5 guided steps provides good support for the initial setup of RCM Analyses. However, further improvement and optimization might need a more structured overview of multiple RCM Analyses. This is provided in the Analysis Main Screen grid. Note: To learn more a bout the IMS Main Screen functionality see IMS Main Screen (Grid List).
In this Analysis Main Screen overview each RCM Analysis is presented in a single row. In the top of the screen, above the grid, the Criticality Assessment area and the Failure effects area are displayed:
Alternatively, click the Task tab to display the Recommended Tasks area. To show in full screen, use the expand button:
You can also click the Strategy or (MEI) Calculation tab to display this information:
Analysis grid Toolbar functions
The Analysis grid provides powerful data management through the following set of functions available on the top of the grid:
Edit
Click the Edit button to go to edit mode.
In edit mode, data visible in the Analysis grid can be modified and copied.
Use the Save / Cancel button to save / cancel any changes. You can also Copy and Paste.
Especially when multiple (similar) Analyses need updating this can be very efficient, for instance for the Analyses of a multiple aircooler-bank with 16 fin-fans, belts, fans and e-motors.
Copy and Paste
There is extended copy and paste functionality available to copy complete or partial Analyses to other Equipment. Here the other Equipment can be empty and unassigned to a System, or it can be assigned and hold already (parts) of an Analysis.
You can either do a ‘step by step’ copy and paste, or use theThe ‘step by step’ copy paste provides a number of quick paste options: Criticality data, Tasks, failure effects, FM notes, Strategy, and MEI calculation.
Copy and Paste Analysis Wizard
The copy and paste wizard enables you to copy complete or partial Analyses to other Equipment. Here the other Equipment should exist and be assigned to a System. You can copy from/to other units.
- Click the wizard button.
- Use the scoping bar and check boxes to filter the displayed data.
- Select the desired Tags to copy.
- Then click Next.
- The wizard opens a tree view down to the Failure Mode level to see the data to be mapped. Note: Icons in the tree view indicate a completed and valid mapping or missing mapping – for instance to a Functional Failure.
- Select the Functional Failures.
- Click Next.
- Use the check boxes to specify the paste options.
- Then click Finish to exit the wizard.
Add/Remove Failure Modes and/or Templates
The add/remove buttons enables Failure modes and/or Templates to be added and/or removed while being in the main grid. It is especially efficient, in RCM Analysis review, during Living Program activities, to make modifications and updates in the main Analysis grid.
You can also create a new maintenance library from here:
Bulk Assign Strategies
The bulk assign strategies, select the relevant Tags and click the Bulk Assign Strategies button.
For more information see ECS Strategies on RSLs.
What If scenarios
The What If scenarios allow for multiple alternatives to be investigated in a row. With the What If functionality RCM Analyses can be investigated for more optimal maintenance strategies. Where the classical RCM Analysis compares the No-Maintenance scenario with a Do-Maintenance scenario and determines the MEI, in a What If scenario multiple RCM Analyses can be compared to find a most efficient Do-Maintenance scenario. Note: If there is no optimum RCM Analysis possible with an MEI above the threshold, then the What If scenarios can show this to validate the outcome being a Run-to-failure scenario (No scheduled maintenance can be justified.)
Creating and viewing What If scenarios
To creating and view What If scenarios:
- Click the What If scenario button.
- The What-If analysis starts with a copy of an Analysis available for modification. Click the View button and select What If Scenarios to see the created scenarios.
You can also create a new What If scenario from another What If.
Deleting What If scenarios
To delete a What If scenario:
- Select the What If scenario and click the Delete button.
Setting a scenario as default
The most attractive scenario can be set as default.
To set a scenario as default:
- Select the scenario and click the Default button.
Exporting What-if Scenarios
See RCM Analysis - Imports and Exports.
Screen settings
The Settings button can be used to customize the grid view, in terms if which columns to show and which buttons in the main toolbar (on top).
For instance, for different types of reviews, you may want to have different columns of data available. If the default set of columns are not optimal, they can be change via these Settings.
Note that:
- The columns can be shifted via ‘drag and drop’.
- The columns can be hidden by unchecking them.
- The data can be sorted automatically in the grid via the Plus button.
- A Freeze can be put on columns by dragging the freeze line, so that data stays visible while scrolling to the right in the grid.
So dependent of the RCM review work to be done, focus can be given to the relevant data on the grid.
