Step D: Specifying Inspection Data and Codes
The Inspection date and codes section of the ECH details page is used to explain what Actions were performed, what Conditions were Found, and what was Repaired/Serviced.
Checklists are provided to help with this task. They help to standardize the way inspections are performed and the data is entered. The codes are used consistently between the Schedules and ECH. Thus, the codes already selected for the credited Schedules, will automatically be selected for the ECH as well. These ECH codes also provide the data for valuable queries, e.g. How many vessels have had HIC cracking in the last 5 years?
The available checklists are configured in Settings \ Maintenance \ Specifications/ECH \ ECH Checklist.
While filling in the checklist, you can add Observations, Attachments, Photos, and Locations to better explain the inspection findings. Also, you can annotate the drawings and photos.
To select the checklists:
- In most cases this will already be selected, based on the credited Schedules (see Step C: Crediting Schedules).
- To add a checklist, click the drop-down arrow to see all available checklists.
- Select a Checklist. Note: Fabric Maintenance (FMA) Users should select the Fabric Maintenance Checklist.

If you selected one of the older Plan Codes Checklists, then follow the below steps:
Then, for each checklist, specify what Actions were Performed, what Conditions were Found, and what was Repaired/Serviced. A Wizard will guide you through the steps…
To define the ACTIONS PERFORMED:
- If a Schedule is credited, then the Actions Performed will already be filled in based on the Schedule’s Plan codes.
- If you want to add Actions, click What was done and where?. Note: If no Actions are defined yet, this tab will open automatically when the checklist is selected.
- Select, for the PERFORMED ACTIONS, the associated VALUES and PARTS.
- You can add observations, attachments, photos, and the location, for each selected ACTION. Click on the three dots or one of the other applicable buttons. Note: You can also add annotations to your drawings and photos. This works the same as adding annotations to attachments in the Attachment section - see IMS Details Page.
- When done, click NEXT to go to Conditions Found.
To define the CONDITIONS FOUND:
- Click What was found?. Note: If you clicked NEXT in the previous step, you will already be on this tab.
- Select, for the CONDITIONS FOUND, the associated VALUES and PARTS.
- You can add observations, attachments, photos, and the location, for condition found.
- When done, click NEXT to go to the Repairs Planned.
To define the REPAIRS PLANNED:
- Select, for the REPAIRS PLANNED, the associated VALUES and PARTS.
- You can add observations, attachments, photos, and the location, for each planned repair.
- When done, click NEXT to go back to the Inspection data and codes summary.
To add a CAIR:
- If applicable, you can add a CAIR from here. To do so, click +.
Note: The ECH codes will then be copied over to the CAIR’s Plan Codes.
Now you still need to write the Narrative (Step E).
Offline
Remember that it is possible to record your ECH offline in the field!
