This article covers one common cause of import errors — duplicate objects — and how to investigate it. ## Duplicate Objects Some import errors are caused by duplicate objects, though it can be hard to identify which objects are involved. You may see the following error while importing tasks: ![The import error message shown when duplicate objects are detected](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/Import_error.jpg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T21%3A53%3A00Z&se=2026-10-28T22%3A53%3A00Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=RO5jTQDKx%2B2p%2B%2BNXZLwfAQHK8bjeAY%2Bfx%2FATxrgaokU%3D) ## Example: Duplicate Failure Modes Under a Tag One possible situation in the RCM analysis involves double Failure Modes defined under a Tag. This can happen if you assign the same RSL twice, either completely or partly. ![Two Failure Modes duplicated under the same Tag](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/Double FMs.jpg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T21%3A53%3A00Z&se=2026-10-28T22%3A53%3A00Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=RO5jTQDKx%2B2p%2B%2BNXZLwfAQHK8bjeAY%2Bfx%2FATxrgaokU%3D) ## How to Investigate If you run into this situation, try the following: - Reduce the import file to a sub-selection of tags. - Check the Failure Modes in the Tag details. - Check the Tag-Failure Mode-Task uniqueness in the import file. > [!WARNING] > Caution > > Removing the duplicate entries from the import file does not resolve the issue on its own. You must also remove the duplicate entries from the RCM analysis.
