Although you can use the [Analysis Main Screen (Grid List) to review and update RCM Analyses](/v410/docs/rcm-analysis-review-and-update), you may stumble upon practical situations that call for a more powerful update method. For such situations IMS provides a powerful import/export facility. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/analysis_import_export.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T23%3A42%3A26Z&se=2026-10-29T00%3A42%3A26Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=rV45gt4z1z1VFz%2F%2F0YKIJQsKf6BbqvSJGc%2FsMSl7enE%3D) ## Export for Import The easiest way to build an import file is to start from an export, because the export shows exactly which data is needed and in which format. To do this, use **Export for Import**. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/analysis_export_for_import.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T23%3A42%3A26Z&se=2026-10-29T00%3A42%3A26Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=rV45gt4z1z1VFz%2F%2F0YKIJQsKf6BbqvSJGc%2FsMSl7enE%3D) The Analysis import file includes fields for Tag and Systems data, Criticality data, PONC and POC data. When importing a file, you must define a FLOC or an Equipment, along with a Functional System (with its Function and Functional Failure) and a PLE. > [!NOTE] > Note > > New data allows a high degree of freedom — for example, adding a Failure Mode or adding Tasks. Modifying existing data allows a limited degree of freedom: in some cases, the existing data must be cleared or deleted before new data can be entered, to avoid duplication. For more information on the import functionality, see [Importing RCM Data](/v410/docs/rcm-imports). ## **RCM Analysis Import Sheet – Field Requirements** The attached Excel file gives detailed information on the fields required for the Analysis import.
