The Tabs are described in additional detail below.

Project Details Tab

Project Details Tab.

The top portion of the Project Details Tab displays basic information related to the selected OB-Project such as its Name, Description, Status and Site. The Status corresponds to the Status in the 3D Observation List View:

  • Created: Review has not started, all OB-Items have Status "None".

  • In Progress: Review has started, one or more OB-Items are marked as "In Progress".

  • Completed: All of the OB-Project’s OB-Items have been marked as either "Completed" or "Obsolete".

  • Rejected: The OB-Project will not be used to create ECHs or CAIRs.

The bottom portion of the tab displays a summary of the Observation Boxes included in the project.

Point Cloud Tab

Point Cloud Tab.

The Point Cloud Tab allows for loading and unloading Point Clouds in the 3D Model Viewer, as well as adding/deleting Point Cloud files to/from the existing Project.

To load the Point Cloud:

  • Click the Show Point Cloud button at the top left corner of the grid.

To Add a Point Cloud file:

  • Click +.

  • Use the dialog that pops up to select the Point Cloud(s) that you want to add to the project.

  • Click Save.

The selected Point Clouds will now be visible in the grid.

Select Point Clouds and click Save.

To Delete a Point Cloud:

  • Select the desired Point Cloud(s) that you wish to remove from the project.

  • Click -.

Images Tab

Images Tab

The Images Tab offers similar functionality to the Image Gallery in the Observation Scan module.

To view an image, and any associated Annotations:

  • Click on the thumbnail on the right-hand side of the screen.

The image will be loaded in the left hand side of the screen.

Add New Annotation

To add a new Annotation (OB-Item):

  • Open an image by clicking on its thumbnail.

  • Select an Issue Class from the Images toolbar.

  • Click on the Draw new annotation button in the image toolbar.

  • Drag a box around the part of the image you wish to annotate.

A new annotation box will be added at that location.

Select an Issue Class and Draw a new Annotation Box.

When an annotation is added or modified on an image, the 3D location data associated with the OB-Item is automatically updated and the changes are immediately reflected in the 3D Model Viewer.

User Note

To learn more about reviewing and annotating images, see: Reviewing Images and Annotations.

3D Observations Tab

3D Observations Tab

The 3D Observations Tab displays a list of any annotation boxes, or OB-Items, associated with the current project. The key information displayed is the OB-Item ID, or Box Number, the Status, Issue Class, associated Equipment, and whether or not the OB-Item has been marked for use in an ECH.

Viewing OB-Item Details

To view an OB-Item’s details:

  • Click on the OB-Item’s name in the Box. No. column.

Click the name of the OB-Item.

The OB-Item will be opened in the same tab, as shown below.

Viewing OB-Item Details in the 3D Observations Tab.

To view the OB-Item’s 3D Box in the 3D Model Viewer Pane, click the Load 3D model for box icon. The OB-Item will be shown in the 3D Model Pane.

  • Next, make any changes directly in the grid list.

  • Click the Save icon.

Make Changes Directly in the Grid List and click Save.

CAN-CUI Tab

Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) is difficult to detect because it is hidden from view. To find locations on equipment where CUI is expected to occur the CAN-CUI process combines three sources of information: CARMA, AIR and NLP.

  • CARMA: Corrosion Advanced Risk Modelling and Analytics (CARMA) tries to find components made of carbon steel, that operate within certain temperatures and have known old or deteriorated insulation. Running the CARMA process will return a list of Equipment which might be susceptible to CUI.

  • AIR: The AIR process uses image analysis to identify potential damage to Equipment and its insulation.

  • NLP: Natural Language Processing (NLP) is used to interpret Equipment Condition Histories to identify whether or not there an elevated risk of leaks.

The outcome of these three analyses is combined by the CAN-CUI algorithm to identify the probability of CUI for a piece of equipment within 4 categories: minimal, medium, high, and very high. The figure below illustrates the logic behind the CAN-CUI process:

The results of the CAN-CUI analysis are displayed in the CAN-CUI Tab of the 3D Observation Project View.

CAN-CUI Tab

The CAN-CUI grid list shows a list of Equipment, followed by columns displaying the results of the CARMA, AIR, NLP, and combined CAN-CUI results, shown as green, yellow, red, purple, and grey flags standing for low, medium, high, very high, and unprocessed values.

To automatically, start a CAN-CUI analysis, click the Wizard Mode toggle in the upper right corner. The Wizard will automatically step through the decision tree to analyze equipment in accordance with the CAN-CUI decision tree.

To manually run CARMA, AIR, or NLP on specific pieces of Equipment:

  • Select the desired Equipment from the list.

  • Click the C, A, or N buttons in the toolbar.

Select Equipment and Run CARMA, AIR, or NLP manually.

ECH Tab

The ECH Tab is used to assign OB-Items to existing or new ECHs.

To create a new ECH:

  • Select the OB-Items you wish to add to your ECH and click Create/Add.

Add OB-Items to existing or new ECHs from the ECH Tab.

A popup will appear confirming the creation of a new ECH.

  • Click the link in the popup to view the newly-created ECH in a new browser tab.
