# 3D Observation User Roles

To make use of 3D Observation and Observation scan, you need to have the "REMOTE INSPECTOR" Role assigned in IMS. (This is done in the [Security Settings](https://portal.document360.io/v2023-1/docs/security-settings#users)).

## **User Roles**

There are four user roles that allow for use of 3D Observation and Observation Scan:

| User Type | Responsibilities |
| --- | --- |
| Remote Inspector | Upload 2D images & Point Clouds into IMS, run Machine Vision to detect integrity issues, do initial review, create OB-Projects. See [Observation Scan](/v414/docs/observation-scan-1). |
| INSP GENERAL (End User) | Review the OB-Items in IMS, verify in Field, create ECHs & CAIRs. See [3D Observation](/v414/docs/3d-observation). |
| INSP ADMIN | Involved prior and after IMS, can change and delete OB-Projects. |
| CSA (Super User) | Involved prior and after IMS, can change and delete OB-Projects, and provide support where needed. |

Note: All four types of users need to have the REMOTE INSPECTOR Role assigned in IMS.
