The CL describes a group of Components. Thus, to completely define the CL, the related (S-RBI) Components must be assigned to the CL. Thereafter it is possible to [assign the relevant DMs to the individual Components](/v414/docs/assigning-dms-to-a-component) and start the [risk assessment](/v414/docs/risk-based-inspection-rbi-theory) on the Component level (per DM). To assign (or unassign) Components to the CL: - Open the CL Details Page (see [IMS Details Page](/v414/docs/ims-details-page-options)). - Scroll to the Components/RBI section. - Click on **+/-** to go to a list of Components. ![A screenshot of a cell phone Description automatically generated](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/assigning-components-to-the-cl-image-uxibn2fu.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A51%3A37Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A51%3A37Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=L3%2BfLupVmbI8wXIZcfZxX5uenEEW7LCqcd3vHRfB1tg%3D)Click on **+/-** to go to a list of Components that can be assigned to the CL. - Use the scoping bar and the search field to find the desired Components. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/assigning-components-to-the-cl-image-yht0etln.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A51%3A37Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A51%3A37Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=L3%2BfLupVmbI8wXIZcfZxX5uenEEW7LCqcd3vHRfB1tg%3D)Search for the desired Components.  - Check the boxes in front of the desired Components to assign them. To unassign a Component, just uncheck the Component’s box again. - Click **OK** when done. Note: All Components assigned to the CL will be listed in the Components/RBI section. Here, other relevant information is also listed for the linked Components, e.g. linked Circuits, related Schedules, and RBI assessment results. Alternatively, one can also assign a Component to a CL from the [Component’s Details Page](/v414/docs/pei-components-details-page) or when creating the Component. ![A screenshot of a cell phone Description automatically generated](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/assigning-components-to-the-cl-image-eorh244n.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A51%3A37Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A51%3A37Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=L3%2BfLupVmbI8wXIZcfZxX5uenEEW7LCqcd3vHRfB1tg%3D)A Component can be assigned to a CL when creating the Component.  ## Linking Circuits When an assigned Component is linked to a Circuit, the Circuit will automatically be linked to the CL. See [Linking Circuits to CLs](/v414/docs/linking-circuits-to-cls). ## Assigning DMs to Components When the CL is defined and Components assigned you can start [Assigning DMs to the Components](/v414/docs/assigning-dms-to-a-component).
