# CAPS2025 Components Main Screen

> This section of the Handbook discusses the management of Piping Components in CAPS2025, including the CAPS2025 Components interface, creating new Components, and selecting Short Names for those Components.

## Listing Components (the Overview Grid)

To see the list of registered Components:

- Go to the CAPS2025 Main Menu.
- Click **Component** to go to the Component main screen.

Default Component data in the Components record:

| Field / Column | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Short Name | Short name of the Component, click on the Name hyperlink to open the Component details. See [CAPS2025 Short Names](/v414/docs/caps2025-short-names) for more details. |
| Group | A Group Component belongs to. |
| Type | Type of a Components |
| Description | Descriptive component name. |
| Show type | Show type for a Component. |
| Socket weld | Indicates if a Component is welded or not. |
| Company | Company a Component belongs to. |
| Changed | Date when component was last edited. |
| Changed by | Shows last user that edited the component. |
| Created | Date when component created. |
| Created by | Shows user that created the component. |

## Components Menu Toolbar

There are several shortcuts or available features that the Components toolbar can be used for. For more information see [CAPS2025 Main Screens](/v414/docs/caps2025-main-screens).

## Filtering Components

From the Component overview page, several filters can be used to drill down the search results for the shown list of Components.

To filter a list:

- Click on the *filter* button.
- Check the filters that you want to use and click **Show...** , or
- Specify the range and click the green arrow.
