Note: Either a Plant ID or a Unit ID must be specified as parent.Take Note - If the CL is created on the Plant, it is not possible to edit the hierarchy later and change the Parent to the Unit. It can be assigned to the new Plant only. This means the Unit will not be displayed in the CL grid. - If the CL was created on the Unit, the CL grid will display both the Unit and the Plant. In this case, in the CL details, the Parent Unit can be changed to a different Unit. - It is not possible to edit the CL Hierarchy through the import. An import will create a new CL (with the same Name) if a different Unit or Plant is provided in the file. It is possible to create a CL with the same Name under a different Plant or Unit because the uniqueness combination is defined as Plant-Unit-Name. It is not possible to have a CL with the same Name under the same Plant/Unit. - Click **Save** when done. - In the Details section: - Click **Edit**. - You can use the Area field to show the CL’s location in map view. - If desired, select a Corrosion loop color (if specific color coding has been applied to marked-up P&IDs). - Select Connected loops, downstream of the flow direction, if applicable. - If not yet done, specify the Corrosion Loop Materials. Note: Later these materials will automatically be added when you create a Barrier of type *M-Material Selection (see [Defining the Barriers (and linking to IOWs)](/v414/docs/defining-the-barriers-and-linking-to-iows))*. ![A screenshot of a cell phone Description automatically generated](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/creating-a-corrosion-loop-image-p00p5wjj.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T11%3A51%3A34Z&se=2026-10-28T12%3A51%3A34Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=uXVVJWeed3ZXmWKgmRjEB3321lyJD2ItenK9C%2BcJVtE%3D)Specify the Corrosion Loop’s material designation. ## Defining CL Boundaries, Process and Potential DMs Now you can start [Defining the CL Boundaries, Process and Potential DMs](/v414/docs/defining-cl-boundaries-process-and-potential-dms). ## Defining DMs To define the DMs see [Defining Degradation Mechanisms](/v414/docs/defining-the-degradation-mechanisms). ## Defining Barriers To define the Barriers see [Defining Barriers (and linking to IOWs)](/v414/docs/defining-the-barriers-and-linking-to-iows). ## Assign Components to the CL To assign Components to the CL see [Assigning Components to CLs](/v414/docs/assigning-components-to-the-cl).
