The intent is to offer a mandatory NID that is, by default, set to 12 months after the Equipment was created. Normally (there are a [few exceptions](/v414/docs/default-schedules#when-default-schedules-are-not-required)) when a new Equipment is added, IMS will automatically create a Default Schedule (status ADMIN FINAL APPROVED) that acts as a “safety net” for which the minimal time interval is normally set to 12 months. The DEFAULT Insp time interval is specified in [Settings \ Maintenance \ Inspection/Schedules Settings](/v414/docs/inspection-schedules-settings). ## When Default Schedules are not required There are several conditions under which Default Schedules will not be required: - When the Inspection Reason (as set on the [Equipment](/v414/docs/pei-equipment) or inherited from the [FLOC](/docs/creating-a-new-floc#17526)) does not require a Default Schedule (either *Class 4* or *No insp. req*). ![Graphical user interface, text, application, email Description automatically generated](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/default-schedules-image-yvg5llik.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A54%3A27Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A54%3A27Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=lnY6YYKEvsDUxvVWYGYg%2FUdsQ0zl0q6qB5ZjqoGrWSs%3D)Only Equipment with “Class 4” Inspection Reasons do not have a Default Schedule. - When there is at least one active, uncredited Schedule with [Schedule Type](/v414/docs/schedule-types) "RBI RE-ASSESSMENT" or "INSPECTION", with a Schedule Driver other than "FABRIC MAINTENANCE" and "PROCESS TECHNOLOGIST". - When Equipment is not available in the PEI or CIVIL module. - When Equipment has the Equipment group set to "Bundle" and has an active, uncredited Corrosion Schedule. - When Equipment is part of a [Piping System](/v414/docs/piping-systems-overview). - When Equipment is inactive. So, for instance if the Equipment has a CAIR Schedule, but no Inspection Schedule, the Default Schedule will remain on the Equipment. ## The Rules The following rules apply to **Default Schedules**: | | Applicable Rules | | --- | --- | | Creation | Users cannot create Default Schedules, they are created automatically when appropriate [conditions are met](/v414/docs/default-schedules#when-default-schedules-are-not-required). | | NID | The NID will be, by default, 12 months from the moment when the appropriate [conditions are met](/v414/docs/default-schedules#when-default-schedules-are-not-required). | | Editing | The Schedule cannot be edited. | | Approving | The Schedule is automatically [Approved](/v414/docs/approvals-introduction) and it can not be placed in draft. | | Extending | It is not possible to [extend or defer](/v414/docs/approving-editing-and-extending-schedules#deferring-schedules) a Default Schedule. | | Crediting | They can not be credited, but only automatically deleted when the appropriate [conditions are met](/v414/docs/default-schedules#when-default-schedules-are-not-required). | ## Reviewing the Details Page To open a Default Schedule’s Details Page, click on the Schedule ID hyperlink.
