# Defining Corrosion Schedules

A Corrosion Schedule is created automatically when a [Circuit is created](/v414/docs/creating-new-pei-circuits). Its Schedule Category and Schedule Driver will be set automatically based on the Circuit's predefinitions for [Corrosion Schedule Defaults](https://ims-handbook.cenosco.com/v414/docs/inspection-schedules-settings#corrosion-schedule-defaults). The Corrosion Schedule is credited when the [Calc Summary on the Circuit is Final Approved](/v414/docs/approving-corrosion-circuit-calculations).

The Corrosion Schedule is automatically [recurring](/v414/docs/schedule-lifecycle), thus when the [Calc Summary is Approved](/v414/docs/approving-corrosion-circuit-calculations), a new Schedule will be created and the [NID](/v414/docs/next-inspection-date-nid-horserace) set (based on the [CR calculations](/v414/docs/corrosion-rate-calculations-details)).

Under normal circumstance it is not necessary to, but you can if desired, [Edit (and then Approve) the Corrosion Schedule](/v414/docs/approving-editing-and-extending-schedules).

Take NoteIf the [Circuit is inherit to an RBI Component](/v414/docs/relationship-between-cls-components-and-circuits), when the [Calc Summary is Approved](/v414/docs/approving-corrosion-circuit-calculations) will automatically be applied to the [RBI](/v414/docs/risk-based-inspection-rbi-theory) Analysis Inspection History. This will update the RBI Last Inspection Date (LID).
