Measurement sets (MSET) are used to record wall thickness data measurements associated with a CML in IMS. It is important to keep in mind regarding MSETs: - Measured wall thicknesses are then used in completing [IMS’s corrosion rate calculations](/v414/docs/pei-corrosion-calcs-overview). - MSETs can contain multiple circuits, but can only be created for on piece of Equipment. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/image-73DNMN2L.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A48%3A53Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A48%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=rtLOW%2BbhYfLOtVbQ1QdSdQ8fkz24zoZThDHfOrH3j%2BM%3D) ## Measurement Set Grid The Measurement Sets Grid is displayed on the Circuit Details Page, as shown below: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/image-5H3CYJLF.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A48%3A53Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A48%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=rtLOW%2BbhYfLOtVbQ1QdSdQ8fkz24zoZThDHfOrH3j%2BM%3D) Measurement Set Grid List The Measurement Set grid shows all MSETs in Circuit and the current state of the MSET. The table below explains the data grid. | Column | Description | | --- | --- | | Measurement Set | Unique Name of the MSET, autogenerated when creating a new MSET. Click to show MP and WT readings per date (when available) | | Description | Short description for the MSET. | | Measurement Set Status | Current Status of the MSET. Note: It is possible to include multiple Circuits in a MSET. The status of a MSET can only be set to Completed when all Circuits included in the MSET have been calculated. Once calculated, the status of the MSET will be automatically set to Completed. | | Created | Date of creation | | Export Date | Date of exporting | | Import Date | Date of importing measurement data | | Technician | Technician / Inspector assigned to the MSET. | | Damage Morphologies | Select from the drop-down menu the Damage Morphologies that best describe the observed damage pattern (e.g., crack, pitting, uniform corrosion). The Damages Morphologies are displayed as labels. Note: Damage Morphologies and their Labels are defined in [Settings \ Maintenance \ Corrosion Data \ Damage Morphology](/v414/docs/corrosion-data-settings#damage-morphology). | | Deposits | The proportion of the surface area covered by deposits, expressed as percentages. | | Clogging | The percentage of internal flow areas blocked by material build-up. | | Updated By | Last user who has modified the MSET contents. | ### MSET toolbar | Icon | Action | Description | | --- | --- | --- | | ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pei-circuits---details-page-image-8gz8pr09.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A48%3A53Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A48%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=rtLOW%2BbhYfLOtVbQ1QdSdQ8fkz24zoZThDHfOrH3j%2BM%3D) | Create Measurement Set | Opens the MSET configurator where you can configure the MSET. This adjustment compensates for thermal expansion and changes in ultrasonic wave speed to ensure consistent, comparable thickness data. The adjustment is applied when the measured Temperature deviates from the reference temperature of (21+1/9)°C (approximately 21.111 °C) or 70° F. The formula used is Celsius: $\Large {\text{Adjusted Reading}} = {\text{Measured WT}} \times \left(1.00018\right)^{\left(( 21 + \frac{1}{9}) - {\text{Measured Temperature}_C} \right)}$ In IMS, the temperature correction calculations are performed in Celsius. When the Imperial Units system is used and the Fahrenheit values are entered, the system automatically converts them to Celsius before applying the calculation. If a corresponding formula for Fahrenheit were implemented, it would appear as follows: $\Large \text{Adjusted reading} = \text{Measured WTx} \times 1.00018^{\left(38.8888 - \frac{\text{Measured Temperature}_F}{1.8}\right)}$ ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/Screenshot_644.jpg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A48%3A53Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A48%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=rtLOW%2BbhYfLOtVbQ1QdSdQ8fkz24zoZThDHfOrH3j%2BM%3D) ### Defining Damage Morphologies in MSETs In Measurement Sets, you can record visible damage patterns such as cracks or pitting, i.e., Damage Morphologies found during an Inspection. Before they can be added to Measurement sets, Damage Morphologies must be defined in [Settings \ Maintenance \ Corrosion Data \ Damage Morphology](/v414/docs/corrosion-data-settings#damage-morphology). To record a Damage morphology: - Click the Damage morphology column. - Select the applicable Damage Morphology from the drop-down menu - Click anywhere outside the field to save the selected value. ## Exporting MSETs MSETs can be exported one at a time or in bulk for use outside of IMS. ### Exporting MSETs from the Equipment Main Grid To export all MSETs for any number of Equipment: - Select the desired Equipment from the Equipment Main Grid. - Click the *Export* button on the Equipment Main Grid toolbar. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/image-BQL3YFKG.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A48%3A53Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A48%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=rtLOW%2BbhYfLOtVbQ1QdSdQ8fkz24zoZThDHfOrH3j%2BM%3D) - Select the option to export “Multiple Measurement Sets”. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/image-Z4BZSIYF.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A48%3A53Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A48%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=rtLOW%2BbhYfLOtVbQ1QdSdQ8fkz24zoZThDHfOrH3j%2BM%3D) Export Multiple Measurement Sets. - Select the MSETs to be exported from the Export Multiple Measurement Sets dialog. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/image-NHGHL69V.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A48%3A53Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A48%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=rtLOW%2BbhYfLOtVbQ1QdSdQ8fkz24zoZThDHfOrH3j%2BM%3D) Select the desired MSETs to export. - Click **Export**. ### Exporting MSETs from the Measurement Set Configurator To export MSETs from the Measurement Set Configurator: - Click *MSET Export* button on the MSET Configurator Toolbar. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/image-1WXY3GIQ.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A48%3A53Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A48%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=rtLOW%2BbhYfLOtVbQ1QdSdQ8fkz24zoZThDHfOrH3j%2BM%3D) Click the Export button. - Select the MSETs to be exported from the Export Multiple Measurement Sets dialog. - Click **Export**. ## Filtering MSETs based on Status To filter Circuits based on the Status of MSETs: - Navigate to the Circuits Main Menu. - Select the Filter Icon in the top right of the Circuits Main Grid. - Expand the Measurement Set Status Filter and select the desired Statuses. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/image-EYR6WZ2E.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A48%3A53Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A48%3A53Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=rtLOW%2BbhYfLOtVbQ1QdSdQ8fkz24zoZThDHfOrH3j%2BM%3D) Filter Circuits based on MSET Status. - Click **Show Matching Circuits.** The Circuits Main Grid will show only those Circuits with MSETs with the selected Measurement Set Statuses. ## Generating Reports You can generate several types of reports which can be customized by users or by Cenosco Support.
