The application settings will determine the available [Specs on the Equipment](/v414/docs/miro-equipment-1). These specs will be used when doing Piping Class Compliance checks. Additional InstructionsTo learn more about general IMS Application Settings see: [Application Settings](/v414/docs/application-settings). ## Defining Piping Classes in Settings Piping Classes are defined in Settings. To do so: - Go to Settings \ M-IDAP \ Piping Class. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201-KUM3359Y.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T14%3A18%3A51Z&se=2026-10-28T15%3A18%3A51Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=k8%2BJoC%2FUbIS%2BOtUe%2Be4eHESaTpVeF%2B5YBO7gKPBig2U%3D) ### Piping Class - Parent First a parent Piping Class is defined. Theses parent Piping Classes can be assignable to individual Piping Equipment CMLs, e.g., Piping Class "25C11A 07.06" can be [assigned to a CML](/docs/miro-cmls#assigning-a-piping-class-to-a-cml). To define an new parent Piping Class: - Click the *Plus* button in the Piping Class parent grid. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201-2JV2KUNH.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T14%3A18%3A51Z&se=2026-10-28T15%3A18%3A51Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=k8%2BJoC%2FUbIS%2BOtUe%2Be4eHESaTpVeF%2B5YBO7gKPBig2U%3D) Here the Piping Class's Name, Description, Norm (this is mandatory), Factory Standard, Effective Date, Test Overpressure and Design CA (Corrosion Allowance) are defined. Take note that the Piping Class's Design CA is used to calculate the Renewal Wall Thickness per UOM Mapping (this happens on the **Piping Class Data** tab that is explained below). ### Piping Class Data - Child Each Piping Class can have multiple Piping Class Data children. The Piping Class Data, serves as a connection between its parent Piping Class and the UOM Mappings. To create a Piping Class Data child: - Select the relevant parent Piping Class. - Click the *Plus* button in the child Piping Class Data grid. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201-83WA97PS.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T14%3A18%3A51Z&se=2026-10-28T15%3A18%3A51Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=k8%2BJoC%2FUbIS%2BOtUe%2Be4eHESaTpVeF%2B5YBO7gKPBig2U%3D) - Select the DN. This list is defined in the UOM Mapping setting. Note: The UOM Mapping needs to be unique, i.e., you cannot select the same mapping more than once for the same Piping Class. - The Diameter will be filled based on the DN selected. - Add a Nominal WT (Wall Thickness). ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201-JP2JYVBT.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T14%3A18%3A51Z&se=2026-10-28T15%3A18%3A51Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=k8%2BJoC%2FUbIS%2BOtUe%2Be4eHESaTpVeF%2B5YBO7gKPBig2U%3D) - The Nominal WT (Wall Thickness) and the Design CA (Corrosion Allowance) from the [parent Piping Class](/v414/docs/348-custom-miro-pipe-class-compliance-check#piping-class-parent) are then used to calculate the Calculated CA and Calc. Renewal WT. This will be copied to the Overridable CA and Over. Renewal WT. - To override: Change the Overridable CA. The Over. Renewal WT will be [applied to individual Piping Equipment CMLs](/docs/miro-cmls#assigning-a-piping-class-to-a-cml) when a UOM Mapping, i.e., Nominal Diamter is selected. ### Piping Class Compliance - Child On the second tab the child Piping Class Compliance is defined for the selected Piping Class parent. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201-XUI7FCJG.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T14%3A18%3A51Z&se=2026-10-28T15%3A18%3A51Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=k8%2BJoC%2FUbIS%2BOtUe%2Be4eHESaTpVeF%2B5YBO7gKPBig2U%3D) The Piping Class Compliance is used for a Pressure over Temperature check, implemented on the [ECH Details Page](/v414/docs/piping-class-compliance-check): - All CMLs of all the Circuits associated with the ECH's Equipment are checked to see if their Diameters fall between the Lower Diameter and Upper Diameter values (defined in the first grid on the Piping Class Compliance tab). ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201-ZEQEHRSK.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T14%3A18%3A51Z&se=2026-10-28T15%3A18%3A51Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=k8%2BJoC%2FUbIS%2BOtUe%2Be4eHESaTpVeF%2B5YBO7gKPBig2U%3D) - The Equipment spec pairs of Temperature and Pressure are then compared with the Piping Class Compliance Data that is connected to the Piping Class Compliance with the relevant Diameter limits. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/pic%201-1TV2KUYD.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T14%3A18%3A51Z&se=2026-10-28T15%3A18%3A51Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=k8%2BJoC%2FUbIS%2BOtUe%2Be4eHESaTpVeF%2B5YBO7gKPBig2U%3D) - If a Pressure for a Temperature span is exceeded, the [ECH will give a warning](/v414/docs/piping-class-compliance-check). ## UOM Mapping The UOM Mapping settings hold Nominal Diameter values. A link is created between Nominal Diameters in standard inches with the millimeter values. ![A screenshot of a data Description automatically generated](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/3.4.4-integrate-existing-miro-corrosion-rate-calculator-for-fixed-eq-and-piping-image-df5ivwz6.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T14%3A18%3A51Z&se=2026-10-28T15%3A18%3A51Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=k8%2BJoC%2FUbIS%2BOtUe%2Be4eHESaTpVeF%2B5YBO7gKPBig2U%3D) ## Material Material settings contain all potential CML Materials available. ![A screenshot of a graph Description automatically generated](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/3.4.4-integrate-existing-miro-corrosion-rate-calculator-for-fixed-eq-and-piping-image-7hvp2iwt.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T14%3A18%3A51Z&se=2026-10-28T15%3A18%3A51Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=k8%2BJoC%2FUbIS%2BOtUe%2Be4eHESaTpVeF%2B5YBO7gKPBig2U%3D)
