The figure below depicts this process in IMS PLSS. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/Pipeline Integirty Managemet.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T19%3A24%3A55Z&se=2026-10-28T20%3A24%3A55Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=3KGzwbrbN0STFILUbcPKXERbvGWcw10%2F4uXqCLXlUtc%3D) The continious Degradation Management Work Process as implemented in IMS PLSS. The [FFS Assessment](/v414/docs/pl-fit-for-service), [ILI](/v414/docs/pl-ili-comparison) Comparison, [Internal](/v414/docs/plss-pl-internal-corrosion-assessment-1), [External](/v414/docs/plss-external-corrosion-assessment-1) and [Risk-Based Assessment](/v414/docs/pl-risk-based-assessment) are conducted on the Equipment level. Equipment subject to the same Degradation Mechanisms are grouped within a [System](/v414/docs/plss-degradation-barrier-menu), where the [Degradation Mechanisms](/v414/docs/plss-systems-details-page#degradation-management) are defined. Each piece of Equipment contains [Barriers](/v414/docs/plss-systems-details-page#barrier-details) designed to protect against the threats posed by these DMs, and therefore requires verification through inspection.
