See also [](/v414/docs/methodology-step-2)[](/v414/docs/methodology-step-5)[Methodology Step 6](/v414/docs/methodology-step-6). ## Determine the Remnant Life Note: For [Tank](/v414/docs/tanks) Equipment, the **Calculator** tab is used for the [Load Case 1 calculations](/v414/docs/tank-load-case-1-calculations). Specific specs and general data are required for the calculations. To determine the RL: - Select the **Remnant Life** tab in the left section. - Click **Edit**. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/software-step-6-image-0md15wdj.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A44%3A56Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A44%3A56Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=kGCFDPU1r8CMImnTYwytc2Jbg2AabOtA832gUoFa960%3D)Select the Remnant Life tab. - Review the Corrosion data: - If you have set the [Component to inherit from a Circuit](/v414/docs/relationship-between-cls-components-and-circuits) in [Step 1](/v414/docs/step-1-define-the-asset), the Actual CR (this is the Governing Rate) and Actual RCA from the Circuit’s driving CML will be shown here. Note: Inheritance can be set on either the Component or Circuit details page - see [Step 1](/v414/docs/step-1-define-the-asset). - Click **Open** to see the Equipment overview (incl. the inherit Circuit). - Select a Corrosion Type. Note: For most Equipment, this is only for information purposes. This is only used for Tank Equipment. - Specify the RCA: Either select the actual RCA by clicking the arrow, or manually enter a different value. Refer to [Methodology Step 6](/v414/docs/methodology-step-6). Note: For [CUI-CS](/v414/docs/corrosion-under-isolation-cui), you can specify the Design Corrosion Allowance (DCA) or Remaining Corrosion Allowance (RCA) here. Not applicable for [CUI-SS](/v414/docs/corrosion-under-isolation-cui). - Specify the SCR: Either select the actual CR (this is the driving CML’s Governing Rate) by clicking the arrow, or manually enter a different value. Refer to [Methodology Step 6](/v414/docs/methodology-step-6). Note: For [CUI-CS](/v414/docs/corrosion-under-isolation-cui), you can specify the Estimated Corrosion Rate (ECR) or the Measured External CR (MCR) here. This is not applicable for [CUI-SS](/v414/docs/corrosion-under-isolation-cui). For For creep and low cycle fatigue the Remnant Life assessment will be required but Selected Corrosion Rates (SCR) will not be applicable. - A Legal/local interval can be specified, and an additional Explanation can also be added. - Click **Save** when done. ## Take Credit for Lining or Coating Life To take credit for Lining or Coating Life: - Select the **Lining/Coating** tab in the left section. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/software-step-6-image-i35ayxqc.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T12%3A44%3A56Z&se=2026-10-28T13%3A44%3A56Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=kGCFDPU1r8CMImnTYwytc2Jbg2AabOtA832gUoFa960%3D)To take credit for Lining/Coating, select the **Lining/Coating** tab. - If Lining/Coating is present, the associated specs should be filled in for the [Component](/v414/docs/pei-components-details-page). See [Step 1](/v414/docs/step-1-define-the-asset). This information will then be available here. - Click **Edit**. - Click **Questionnaire** and fill in the questions to determine the Lining/Coating Quality. Note: The quality is used to determine the IFLining/Coating. From this the MIILining/Coating is determined, which will extend the NID (see [Step 11](/v414/docs/step-11-review-the-results-nid-mii-is-inspection-effectiveness)). ImportantThe quality score must be determined for the Equipment NOT for the DM. - If this is the first time that you are filling in this tab: Select the Lining/Coating Cond. Last Insp based on the condition at the Lining/Coating Install Date. ImportantAt first Lining/Coating Cond. Last Insp should NOT reflect the condition at the last inspection, but at the Install Date.  - If an inspection has already been completed for the Lining/Coating, then go to the **Inspection History** tab: At the last inspection date, selected a value for the Lining/Coating Condition (see [Step 5](/v414/docs/software-step-5)). Thereafter this condition will be updated here in the Lining/Coating Cond. Last Insp. Note: If the Condition is not “Good” the IFLining/Coating will be adjusted and the MII will be shortened. - Fill in the other data. - Click **Save** when done.
