# Step 8 Rate Consequence of Failure

## Aim

Determine per Component per DM the Consequences of Failure (CoF) for the Most Credible Failure Scenario (defined in [Step 4](/v414/docs/step-4-determine-the-most-credible-failure-scenario-1)) for the following Consequence categories:

- Asset: Economic damage to the asset including consequential business loss.
- People: Health and safety consequences resulting from loss of primary containment.
- Environment: Environmental consequences resulting from loss of primary containment.
- Community: Reputational consequences of an incident.
