# Step 9 Review Overall Criticality

## Aim

To review the Overall Criticality, i.e., base risk for (each) Component – DM combination.

Criticality, together with Confidence ([Step10](/v414/docs/step-10-assess-the-confidence-1)) and RL ([Step 6](/v414/docs/step-6-estimate-remaining-functional-life-ar-dms-and-cui-1)), is used to determine the Maximum Inspection Interval (MII) and Inspection Strategy (IS) ([Step 11](/v414/docs/step-11-review-the-results-nid-mii-is-inspection-effectiveness)).
