This is more suited to testing APIs and is not intended to be used for production purposes. - A third-party tool, such as [Postman](/v414/docs/submitting-data-requests-1#using-postman-to-submit-a-request) or your own application. ## Using the IMS Developer Portal It is possible to test APIs directly from the IMS Developer Portal. To test an API: - Click the **Authorize** button in the top right of the Developer Portal. - Enter the token obtained using the [CenAuth Service](/v414/docs/cenauth-authentication) into the **Value** textbox in the Available Authorizations dialog that pops up. - Click **Authorize**. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/image-1NWV0KIR.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T16%3A03%3A11Z&se=2026-10-28T17%3A03%3A11Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=wZ9cdtMgtqmGY51Tkd0BsXd4kcuaHTrFParJCUbbXvY%3D) Authorize using the token obtained using the CenAuth service. - Next, click the **Try it out** button for the API which you would like to test. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/image-4JQE6UDR.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T16%3A03%3A11Z&se=2026-10-28T17%3A03%3A11Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=wZ9cdtMgtqmGY51Tkd0BsXd4kcuaHTrFParJCUbbXvY%3D) Click **Try it out**. After clicking **Try it out**: - Enter your request parameters in the Query fields, as required. - Click **Execute**. If you have authorized the Developer Portal with a valid Token, your response will be displayed in the **Responses** section below. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/image-9JIZGH0A.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T16%3A03%3A11Z&se=2026-10-28T17%3A03%3A11Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=wZ9cdtMgtqmGY51Tkd0BsXd4kcuaHTrFParJCUbbXvY%3D) Enter Query parameters, click **Execute**. ## **Using Postman to Submit a Request** For the purposes of this example, we will demonstrate how to create a new GET request in Postman. > [!NOTE] > Note > > Before proceeding, you should ensure that you have configured Postman to use the [CenAuth Service to obtain a Token](/v414/docs/data-lake-authentication). To create a new GET request to retrieve the details of an ECH: - Click **Add a request** in the left-hand panel of Postman. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/e492a0e0-a4ba-4aca-8fc6-76b95f91fdf3/Images/Documentation/image-XUI844BF.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-28T16%3A03%3A11Z&se=2026-10-28T17%3A03%3A11Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=wZ9cdtMgtqmGY51Tkd0BsXd4kcuaHTrFParJCUbbXvY%3D) Click **Add a request**. - The **New Request** tab will open in Postman. - Select the type of Request that you want to submit.
