Approving the SIF Design

When all is verified (Achieved PFD checked, Performance checked, and Response Time checked) then you can Approve your design in the Approval area.

Approval Prerequisites

The following Approval rules apply:

Unrated SIFs

SIL A rated SIFs

  • If there is no Subsystem, Approval is allowed. Design Status (DS) show “A”. (Greenfield project)

  • If design is completed (Design Status (DS) shows green), Approval is allowed. (Brownfield project)

SIL ≥ 1 rated SIFs

Approving the SIF Analysis

When all is good, you can Approve the SIF Analysis. 

  • Click the Approve button to open the Approval Pane.


  • Review any Warning shown.

  • Select the Approval Level (if applicable).

  • Click Approve.

Click Approve to Approve your design.

When you Approve the design the Review Status (RS) will update. This is shown on the Analysis Main Screen, as well as on the Icon  Description automatically generated General Tab.

Creating a new Version

When already Approved, you can create a new Draft version. To do so click Edit Final Approved Analysis.

To create a new Draft version, click Edit Final Approved Analysis. 

Remember you can find all versions in the Revision History tab

Roll Back

It is possible to “roll back” to your last Approved version of the SIF Analysis. When you click Roll Back, all changes made after the Approval will be discarded.

Click Roll back to discard all changes made after Approval. 


Roll Back blockers

Roll back is restricted when certain actions have been performed that impact the SIF Analysis and return it to Draft status, as outlined in the below table.

Deleting connected LOPA from DRAFT SIF (Note: Rollback can only be enabled when LOPAs connected to the DRAFT SIF version are the same as LOPAs connected to the LAST FINAL APPROVED SIF version, no LOPA connected to the SIF should have been added, deleted, or sent to draft)
