RCM Analysis - Imports and Exports

This RCM online tutorial describes how RCM Analyses can be imported into IMS.

Even with all the functionality available to review and update RCM Analyses, there can be practical situations where even a more powerful update method is needed.

For such situations IMS provides a powerful import/export facility:

Export for Import

It is much easier to create an import file based on an export as it confirms the data needed. For this purpose you can ‘Export for Import’:

The Analysis import file has import fields for Tag and Systems data, Criticality data, PONC and POC data.

Note that for new data there is a high degree of freedom, for instance in terms of adding a Failure Mode and adding Tasks. Making modifications to existing data has a limited degree of freedom, where in some cases the existing data need to be cleared/ deleted to enable new data to be entered to avoid duplications.

Overview of data fields involved in the Analysis import functionality:

Take Note
A Floc or an Equipment should to be defined. Also a Functional System with Function and Functional failure and a PLE should be defined.

For more information on the import functionality see Importing RCM Data.

Import Examples

Example of data used as input for an import of Analysis:

Upload of a new Analysis with a single task:

Adding FM’s and tasks to an existing Analysis:

Example of an import file for an A+B pump with 3+4 Failure Modes and with 8+10 tasks:

Exporting Analyses and What If Scenarios

The following export functionality is available in the RCM Analysis export screen:

  • Export only Analyses - if clicked, only Analyses are exported.
  • Export What If Scenario - if clicked, only What-If scenarios are exported.
  • Export Multi export - if clicked, both Analyses and What-If scenarios are exported, in two separate sheets.

Importing What If Scenarios

What If Scenarios can also be imported via the import wizard. Also the What If Scenario template is available to download from here.
