When updating Narratives, IMS provides two modes of operation depending on the configuration in Settings \ Maintenance Configuration \ Applications Settings. You can either edit existing Narratives directly without without needing to revert the Condition History status or append new Narratives.
If the setting "Allow editing or appending of condition history narrative after final approval?" is enabled with the editing option selected (value "1"), an Edit button will be displayed in the header of the Narrative section on the Condition History Details page. To modify an existing Narrative:
- Click the Edit button.
- Update or add text within the existing Narrative.
- Click Save.
Appending Narratives is enabled when in Settings \ Maintenance Configuration \ Applications Settings "Allow editing or appending of condition history narrative after final approval?" is set to "0". In this mode, an Append button is shown in the header of the Narrative section.
To append a Narrative:
- Click the Append button.
- Write the text of the Narrative.
- Click Save.
The appended entry will automatically display the date, time and author.

Note: In append-only mode, existing Narratives can be edited only by setting the Condition History status back to “DRAFT” before making changes.
Adding Additional Data (Drawings, Comments, Attachments)
To support the Narrative, you can use the other sections on the ECH Details Page to add relevant data.
Drawings and Documents
You can use the Drawings and Documents section to add drawings and documents. Click SEARCH FOR DRAWINGS to do so. You can link to Drawing and Documents if available for your site. See Uploading drawings and documents.
Note: Otherwise adding annotations to drawings works the same as adding annotations to attachments in the Attachment section - see IMS Details Page.
Comments
You can use the Comment section to add Comments. Click Edit to do so.
Attachments
You can use the Attachments section to add Attachments. Refer to IMS Details Page for more information on adding and annotating Attachments.
Now you can create new Schedules (Step F) if needed and not yet done, create a Report to review the ECH (Step G) and then Approve the ECH (Step H).IMS Details Page
