Article summary

This section of the Handbook describes how to use the 3D Dashboard in IMS.

If a 3D model has been uploaded for your site / plant the 3D Dashboard will enable you to see, analyse, and access your site / plant in a fully scalable model. The Dashboard has many customization options based on your viewing needs.

When you open the 3D Dashboard you will see a menu (1) on the right and the 3D Model (2).

Starting View

The starting view menu can be used in the following ways:

Viewing in Full Screen

To view the model full screen mode click the Toggle full screen button.

Loading Model Areas

By default the Model Browser Menu will be displayed when the 3D Dashboard is loaded. If you wish to examine a specific model area:

  • Click Load in the Model Browser, or click on an area in the 3D Model.

Your desired model area will be loaded and displayed in the 3D Model.

Filtering

Filters can be used to help with analyzing data in the 3D Model.

To select a filter:

  • Click the Filter button. 

  • Select an item from the context dropdown. Depending on the selected context, different filters will be presented.

  • Default color schemes are assigned to each entity type in 3D Filters.  To change color coding, select Color Coding and then select Color Settings

If you have not yet loaded a model area, the filter results will be shown as counts per model area. You can click any of the model areas to load them in the 3D Dashboard.

If filters are applied when a 3D Model area has already been loaded, the filtered results will be displayed with full opacity in the 3D Dashboard. The remaining components will be transparent.

Equipment can be selected in to display their attributes.

Other Menu Options

The other menu options in the starting view are:

Home button – on “right mouse” click it enables 3 options:

  • Reset position – returns view to default zoom.

  • Zoom to loaded – zooms in to a loaded area of the model.

  • Zoom to selected – if entity is selected, zooms in to selected entity.

 Model browser button – when clicked it displays all areas on a current site.

Crop to selection button – disabled until an area is entered. See Tools available only in loaded model area.

Point cloud button – used for loading point clouds for the area.

Performance options button – enables you to customize certain parameters.

Label button – usable in a loaded area to see the labels of entities. 

Manage FMA Areas button – usable in a loaded area to create new FMA Area or add selected Flocs to a FMA Area.

Related drawings list button – usable in a loaded area to see drawings connected to selected entity. See Tools available only in loaded model area.

3D Model

When a 3D model is loaded, more menu options become available. For the model, you can zoom in / out, pan, rotate and click on objects with your mouse.

When entering a certain area, you will gets a “loading area” notification, after which the 3D model of a selected area appears. In this view, you can assess the model more clearly and in a more detailed fashion.

In the above image you can see the expanded 3D Dashboard toolbar (the blue stars mark the new tools that are available only when in loaded area):

  • Measure button – enables you to measure the distance between two clicked points.

  • Selection button:

    • Rectangle mode – when clicked, you can select more entities on a loaded area using the rectangle (dragging across the screen).

    • Single node mode – when clicked, you can select parts of entities.

    • Multiple select mode – when clicked, you can select more than one entity with a mouse click.

    • You can also choose to hide selected or unselected Equipment, or to toggle visibility for both.

  • Mappings button – you can toggle on / off the mapped / unmapped entities, and toggle the color for mapped entities. This enables you to more easily observe mapped / unmapped entities.

  • Selection tree button (must have a selected entity) – enables you to see the tree of entities, also observe every single node of an object by clicking it in the list.

  • FLOC info button – after selecting the mapped Equipment (light blue coloring on Equipment), and clicking the FLOC info button, more information for the selected Equipment is shown. You can navigate through several tabs:

    • The Equipment tab shows details about the selected Equipment.

    • The Schedules tab shows the list of schedules for selected Equipment.

    • The ECH tab shows Equipment Condition History.

    • The Specs tabs show specifications for selected Equipment.

Tools available only in loaded model area

Some tools are only available when in the loaded model area:

Crop to selection – after mapped Equipment has been selected, you can slide to a desired opacity (changes visibility of non-selected objects) or crop size (changes the crop size of objects adjacent to the selected object).

Isolated (crop to selection tool). 

Label – enables you to toggle labels of mapped Equipment, if one Equipment is selected then only the label for that Equipment will be visible.

Related drawings list tool – When certain Equipment is selected, a panel opens with a list of related drawing to the selected Equipment:
