CAPS2025 CMT Common Data
The CMT Common Data section in the CAPS2025 Settings menu contain the tables used to support the application.
Settings in CMT Common Data can be changed by users with the CSA or CMTA User Roles assigned. See CAPS2025 Security Settings for more information on User Roles.
Accessing the CMT Common Data
To access CMT Common Data:
Click Settings at the top of the CAPS2025 Main Screen.
Click Settings.
Select Maintenance → CMT Common Data from the Settings left panel.

The CMT Common Data Settings consists of nine sections: Noun-Modifier Character Type, Character Type Item, Short Name Position Sequence, Product Group, Reference Number Type, Synonym, Unit of Measure, Standard Institute, and Deleted and Replaced Material Items. CMT2025 relies on these sections to define the relationship between CAPS Codes and the CMT Codes, as well as providing other data used to support the application. Some of the sections are described below.
Noun-Modifier Character Type
The Format main table consists of the Noun_Modifier main table which provides the connection between CAPS2025 and the CMT Database. This includes the Nouns (Component Types) and the associated first one or two characters of the Short Name.
Format Character Type
The Noun-Modifier Character Type table contains a list of all specifications (attributes) in the CMT database that can describe a noun-modifier.

Character Type Item
Contains values for the specifications (attributes) from the CMT database.

Short Name Position Sequence
The Short Name Position Sequence Table contains the data describing the relationship between Short Name and Application Code characters and their position in the CAPS2025 Code.

Product Group
The Product Group Table is used to define product groups to be used in the CAPS/CMT 2025 application.

Synonyms
The Synonyms Table defines synonyms which can be assigned in CAPS/CMT 2025 under the Noun - Modifier details.

The Unit of Measure Table contains definitions for all units of measure used in CAPS/CMT 2025.
