Creating New Dashboard Dimensions
Take Note
This overview explains how to create new Dimensions on IMS Dashboards.
IMS allows you to create Custom Dashboards to suit your needs and preferences. These Dashboards can contain multiple Sections and Elements that provide an overview of the reports and metrics that matter most to you. Each Element displays a specific set of data based on the section's specified source. When creating a new Custom Dashboard or editing an existing Dashboard in IMS, you can specify which data you want to visualize in the Elements by selecting Dimensions. These Dimensions are used to categorize and segment data to be displayed in the Dashboards.
There are two ways to create new Dimensions when creating or editing Dashboard Elements:
By using existing IMS Fields to create new Categories. A Category bundles values into different buckets/ranges. The values are based on the Dimensions i.e. Fields or Expressions. These buckets or ranges can be named High, Medium, or Low and then be used as a Dimension.
By creating Expressions to generate new Dimension values based on the existing data. An Expression is a calculated value based on one or more Fields in the source. The calculated value can be used directly as a Dimension or be used in a Category.
