Article summary

Take Note
There are some specific cases where the S-RBI assessment approach in IMS PEI changes, depending on the Equipment/Component type. This section gives guidance for Dissimilar Welds.

Define Asset – Step 1

See Step 1.

In IMS a Dissimilar Weld can be modelled as a separate Component of either a Piping System or an Equipment. On this level the RBI Analysis can then take place.

Assign DMs to Component – Step 3

See Step 3.

The DM assigned should be related to the Piping System or Equipment to which the Dissimilar Weld belongs to.

Assign RBI results to Inspection Schedule – Step 12

See Step 12.

The Dissimilar Weld should have a specific NDE inspection Schedule, but the DM is related to the Piping System (or Equipment) it belongs to. It is recommended to have an inspection Schedule called "NDE dissimilar weld" at the Piping System (or Equipment). Inspect as per its strategy and if needed, plan for repair mitigation.
