This section of the Handbook explains how to create and manage Measurements Sets in IMS.
Measurement sets (MSET) are used to record wall thickness data measurements associated with a CML in IMS. The measured wall thicknesses are then used in IMS’s corrosion rate calculations.
Measurement Set Grid
The Measurement Sets Grid is displayed on the Circuit Details Page, as shown below:
The Measurement Set grid shows all MSETs in Circuit and the current state of the MSET. The table below explains the data grid.
Column | Description |
---|---|
Measurement Set | Unique Name of the MSET, autogenerated when creating a new MSET. Click to show MP and WT readings per date (when available) |
Description | Short description for the MS. |
Measurement Set Status | Current Status of the MS. Note: It is possible to include multiple Circuits in a MSET. The status of a MSET can only be set to Completed when all Circuits included in the MSET have been calculated. Once calculated, the status of the MSET will be automatically set to Completed. |
Created | Date of creation |
Export Date | Date of exporting |
Import Date | Date of importing measurement data |
Technician | Technician / Inspector assigned to the MS. |
Updated By | Last user who have modified the MS contents. |
MSET toolbar
Icon | Action | Description |
---|---|---|
Create Measurement Set | Opens the MSET configurator where you can configure the MSET. It is also possible to click the shortcut in the Circuit header. This will create a new MSET for all existing CMLs on the Circuit. | |
Import | You are directed to the Import wizard where you can download a MSET template and import the template as well. | |
S-IDAP | Open the S-IDAP model, for further analysis and trending | |
Report | With this you can generate a Report. | |
Workpack | With this you can generate a workpack to be used for the inception. |
Creating a new Measurement Set
Measurement Sets can be created quickly from the Equipment, Circuit, and CML Main Grids, as well as directly from the respective Details pages as shown in the table below:
Location | Main Grid | Instructions |
---|---|---|
Equipment Main Grid | Select the Equipment for which you want to create MSETs and click the Create Measurement Set icon . MSETs will be created for all active CMLs from all active Circuits for the selected Equipment. | |
Equipment Details Page | Click the Create Measurement Set icon . MSETs will be created for all active CMLs from all active Circuits for the selected Equipment. | |
Circuits Main Grid | Select the Circuits for which you want to create MSETs and click the Create Measurement Set icon . MSETs will be created for all active CMLs from all selected Circuits. | |
Circuit Details Page | Click the Create Measurement Set icon . MSETs will be created for all active CMLs from the selected Circuits. | |
CML Main Grid | Select the CMLs for which you want to create an MSET and click the Create Measurement Set icon . MSETs will be created for all selected CMLs. | |
CML Details Page | Click the Create Measurement Set icon . MSETs will be created for all active CMLs from all active Circuits for the selected Equipment. |
Configuring Measurement Sets
To configure Measurement Sets:
From the Circuit/CML Main Grid:
Select the Circuit or CML and click in the toolbar.
From the Equipment/Circuit Details Page:
The Measurement Set Configurator will open displaying the Measurement Sets associated with the current Equipment. The Measurement Set Configurator contains two main sections:
Details: Contains a list of MSETs associated with the current Equipment, and a list of the Circuits associated with the current Equipment.
CML Measurement Set Selection: Displays a list of CMLs in the Circuit in the MSET selected in the Details section at the top. This section also displays a calculated PERF value for the selected CMLs in the Circuit. See PEI Corrosion Calcs - Overview to learn more about PERF and other corrosion calculation details.
To configure a Measurement Set:
Select the MSET from the Details Grid.
Click the Edit icon to the left of it.
The MSET Details will be displayed.
Enter the desired values for Description, Measurement Set Status, Circuit, and Technician.
Click Save to save any changes.
Next, use the tabs to configure the remaining options to establish MSET Criteria, review Trendplots and ISOs, Assign Inspection Methods to the individual CMLs, and to Generate MSET Exports. Click Previous or Next to navigate to adjacent tabs, and Apply to save any changes.
Completing Measurement Sets
Manual Wall Thickness Entry
To manually enter Wall Thickness Measurements:
Open the Measurement Set by clicking on its ID hyperlink.
Complete all fields, e.g., Quality Indicator, for each WT measurement.
Click the Save button to save the MSET.
Click the Calculate button to calculate the MSET.
The MSET Status will change to “Completed” after the calculation has been completed.
Importing Wall Thickness Measurements
You can import WT measurements, filled into an Excel sheet, directly into a MSET.
To create the excel sheet:
Go to your Circuit Details Page.
Scroll to the “Measurement Set” section.
Click the Generate Workpack button.
Select the CMLs.
Make sure "Create Measurement Excel" is checked.
Click Download.
To import the filled excel sheet:
Go to your Circuit Details Page.
Scroll to the “Measurement Set” section.
Click the Import button.
Make sure Measurement Set is selected. Then click Browse.
Select your filled in file.
Click Next.
Follow the steps of the import wizard until completed. Then click on Show entities.
Go back to the Circuit and open the Measurement Set by clicking on its ID hyperlink.
Make sure all fields are filled in.
Then Save and Calculate the MSET.
Exporting MSETs
To export one or more MSETs from the Equipment Main Grid:
Click on the Equipment Main Grid toolbar.
Select the option to export Multiple Measurement Sets.
Select the MSETs to be exported.
Click Export.
Or from the Measurement Set Configurator.
Click on the MSET Configurator Toolbar,
Select the MSETs to be exported.
Click Export.
