PEI CMLs - Details Page

Prev Next

To open a CML Details Page, click on the desired CML Name hyperlink in the Circuit main screen (or on any other screen). See IMS Details Page.

The CML Details Page can be divided into sections:

Header

The header of the detail page shows the Circuit name / Circuit ID to which the CML belongs, followed by the CML name / CML ID, separated by a dash (“-”), along with various navigation options.

For more information on the icons, see IMS Details Page.

The fields listed in this section are described in Creating new PEI CMLs.

Calculating Renewal Thickness with TMIN Calculator

From the Details section, you can calculate the Minimum Required Thickness (TMIN) for Components subjected to Internal pressure. If a TMIN calculator is configured under Settings \ Maintenance \ Configuration \ Configuration per Hierarchy Type for the applicable Equipment group-CML Type combination, a disabled TMIN Calc button will appear next to the CMLs Renewal Thickness field, indicating that the TMIN calculator is available for this CML.  Note: The Calculator can only be used in Edit mode.

Disabled TMIN Calc button indicating that the Calculator is available for the CML.

To calculate the Renewal Thickness using the TMIN calculator in CML Details, you will need to enter in the Edit mode:

  • Click Edit. Note: When you enter Edit mode, the TMIn Calc button will become enabled.

  • Click the TMIN Calc button.

  • If multiple TMIN calculators are available, select the relevant one from the drop-down menu.

Select the applicable TMIN calculator from the drop-down menu.

  • Enter the required data. See the table below.

  • Click Calculate.

Calculated Minimal Required Thickness will be displayed below the calculator.

To perform another calculation, reset the calculator by clicking Reset.

The table below describes the parameters necessary for the calculators:

Item Description
Internal Design Pressure (P) The maximum expected operating internal pressure (in bar or psi) that the equipment must safely withstand.
Inside Radius (R) The radius measured on the inside surface of the pressure boundary for the specific equipment or component.
Maximum Allowable Stress (S) The allowable stress value from the material specifications or design code for your equipment in bar or psi.
Joint Efficiency (E) The joint efficiency factor (0 < value ≤ 1) based on the weld type and inspection quality of your equipment’s welded joints.
Outside Diameter (D) The total external diameter of the pressure boundary for the specific equipment or component, in mm or inches.
Inside Spherical or Crown Radius (L) The internal radius of the spherical portion or crown of the vessel/head, in mm or inches.
Coefficient The coefficient representing the effect of the bend or elbow geometry on stress or pressure loss.
Bend Radius of Welding Elbow or Pipe Bend (R1) The radius of the bend as the centerline radius of the elbow or pipe bend in mm or inches.

Applying the calculated Minimum Required Thickness

Once the Minimum Required Thickness is calculated by using the TMIN calculator from the CML Details page, you can apply it to the CML.

  • To apply the calculated Minimum Required Thickness value to the CML, click Apply.

On the  CML Details page, the calculated Renewal Thickness will be displayed, and the Renewal Basis will be changed to “Calculated”. An Info button will appear. When hovered, data related to when and who did the calculation and which calculator was used, will be displayed.

  • Click Save.

A warning will appear indicating that saving the data will trigger a recalculation of the Circuit.

  • Click OK or Cancel.
