October 1, 2020

Version 3.13A brings updates to existing features of IMS. Its main target is to stabilize and improve performance.

Dashboards

1. Trending data for Dashboards!

For dashboards with the trending capabilities, a powerful tool is now available to dive into the data and track the most important metrics trough time.

In the past, trends, like number of equipment, or active schedules, could only be tracked from the dashboard’s creation date. But now, all trends can be tracked up to the date when IMS started tracking the site’s data, irrespective of the date when the dashboard was created. This way, a user can see the number of equipment, or active schedules in September 2020, but he can also see how that number changed over time.

To achieve this, IMS creates monthly and yearly snapshots of selected sources. Currently, by default, IMS tracks the following sources:

  • PEI: Corrosion loops
  • PEI: CMF
  • PEI: Equipment
  • PEI: Circuits
  • PEI: CML
  • PEI: Components
  • PEI: Schedules
  • PEI: Condition history
  • PLSS: Equipment

Other source can also be tracked on request. This does not impact already existing dashboards.

To trend data in a dashboard, create a source section and element as normal. In the element details, check “Show trend”. The element will then show trending data. The “Show trend” checkbox is only available if IMS is configured to track trends for the selected source.

The trending data can be shown in a KPI element, vertical bar chart, line chart, area chart and as actual data. Additionally, the element can be configured to show a weekly, monthly, or yearly trend. The weekly snapshots are done during weekends and IMS keeps only four weekly snapshots by default. The monthly snapshot is done on first day of the month and the yearly is done on the first day of the year.

The KPI element shows the current count of the desired metric. Below this, you can find the percentage, or the absolute change, in comparison to the selected period. As an example, see Figure 2. Here the current total count of blue barriers is 684, which is an increase of 47 barriers from last month.

The vertical bar chart, line chart, and area chart work as follows: The x-axis always shows time. It shows the dates when the snapshots were taken. The y-axis shows the data: a count, or a delta (difference between given and previous period), or a percentage (difference divided by previous period). The data representation can be changed, after saving the element, using the quick switch button. For example, we can track the number of red barriers trough time. The data can be represented as a total count of red barriers each month, or as a delta, to show the increase/decrease of red barriers.

Chart, waterfall chart Description automatically generatedFigure 3: Example of trending data in bar chart.

The trending data can also be shown as historic data in a grid: When the element type “actual data” is selected, IMS will show a dropdown with dates. It is then possible to see the actual state of data, at any of the times listed in the dropdown. For example, we can see which barriers were red last month, or at any other time for which IMS has taken snapshots.

The cool part is that when a dashboard is configured to have an element with current data, and then an element showing a trend, with an actual data element at the end, all elements can be filtered, by selecting the data on the charts! The trending data can be filtered, in the same way as the other elements. If there is an element, with actual data, in the “chain”, the user can see which data matches the selected filters and at which point in time

4. S-IDAP

4.1 S-IDAP Chart Enhancements

IMSFB-14417, IMSFB-14418, IMSFB-14416

The green line on the S-IDAP TrendPlot, which represents the predicted Remnant Life (RL) using the SIDAP Corrosion Rate, was always too short. This line can now be extended: either to the instant when it hits the Minimum Wall Thickness line; or for 20 years (if it does not hit the Minimum Wall Thickness line). “Theatre” view will give a better overview of the RL prediction line. To turn on the chart’s “Theatre” view, click the rectangle in the right corner (see Figure 13). Click the same icon again, to switch back to standard view.

A picture containing graphical user interface Description automatically generatedFigure 13: S-IDAP chart - standard view.

Two additional lines are now shown on the S-IDAP chart:

  • A gold line, representing the half-life NID and
  • A cyan line, representing the RBI NID.

Also, the blue line, representing the Minimum Wall Thickness (Renewal Thickness), is now always visible, even when at the bottom of the chart.

This S-IDAP chart functionality is available on both the Circuit main page (in the “CML Measurement History” section) and the S-IDAP page.

Graphical user interface Description automatically generatedFigure 22 IOW Grid.

In cases where the Measurement unit, defined for a variable, differs from the PI Engineering unit, IMS will show a warning (1) in the Measurement unit column.

Also, the PI Tag statuses has been expanded with the yellow status. The status rules are now as follows:

When not all the mandatory fields are filled in, the status is white.

When the PI tag is not interfaced with the PI service, the status is grey.

When the PI tag is interfaced with the PI service, but not connected to the barrier, the status is yellow.

When the PI tag is interfaced with the PI service and connected to the barrier, the status is green.

When a PI tag is connected to the PI service, IMS will collect the following additional data for that PI tag:

  • PI Description (3);
  • PI Engineering unit (4); and
  • PI Value (5).

The PI value can be requested on demand. To do this click on “Get PI Values” (6). You will find this button in the right corner of the grid. This functionality will refresh the PI value column with the last value from the PI service.

The system will start calculating of the exceedances as soon as the PI tag has a yellow status.
