Release 4.5

Note: These Release Notes only cover specific PEI enhancements. All other enhancements, not related to specific disciplines, are described in the IMS Platform (General) Release Notes.

TMIN Calculators

We’ve added 10 TMIN calculators to the Settings \ Maintenance  \ Corrosion data \ TMIN Calculators, which allow you to calculate the Minimum Required Thickness (TMIN) for Components subjected to Internal pressure.

Each calculator utilizes a specific ASME Section VIII / B31 code formula to calculate the Minimum Required Thickness, depending on the component type and design standard. When you click the Info button, you’ll see the relevant formula with its ASME reference.

These calculators cover various Piping, Vessel and Heat Exchanger Components, including:

  • Cylindrical Shell

  • Cylindrical Tube

  • Nozzle Neck

  • Spheric Shell

  • Head Ellipsoidal

  • Head Torispherical

  • Head Hemispherical

  • Bend or Elbow Piping (Intados)

  • Bend or Elbow Piping (Extrados)

  • Straight Piping

The calculators are organized into two groups: Vessel and Heat Exchanger, and Piping. Notably, the first three calculators in the Vessel and Heat Exchanger group (Cylindrical Shell, Cylindrical Tube, and Nozzle Neck) perform dual calculations for both Circumferential (Hoop) and Longitudinal Stresses. Both intermediate values are displayed, with the final TMIN set to the higher result for accurate thickness determination.

Capturing Damage Morphologies on CMLs

In addition to Wall Thickness Measurements, IMS now supports recording visible damage patterns such as cracks or pitting, i.e., Damage Morphologies found during an Inspection.

Damage Morphologies are defined in Settings \ Maintenance \ Corrosion Data \  Damage Morphology. Users with the CSA role and INSP ADMIN are allowed to add, edit or delete them. Only Damaged Morphologies that are not currently in use can be deleted.

Damage Morphologies are recorded at the CML Level in the Measurement Set section per PDMP.

Now you can also track damage evolution and attribute changes over time on the CML Details Page in the CML Measurement History section.

We’ve also added a Damages Morphologies Filter to the CML Main Screen.

User instructions:

To learn how to set up Damage Morphologies in IMS, see: Damage Morphology.
To find out how to add Damage Morphologies via Measurement Sets, see: Measurement Sets and Managing Measurement Sets.
