Article summary

Take Note

This overview will explain how to use the Upper left pane of the ILI Comparison module.

The left upper pane of the ILI Comparison module consists of two tabs:

  • Scenario Tab, and

  • Assessment Tab.

Scenario

In the Scenario Tab, you can see the Scenario Name, configure parameters for both Girth Weld matching and Defect matching, and select the specific ILI Runs to be compared. Refer to the table below for an explanation of each column.

Column Name

Description

Name

The scenario name, more than one scenario can be added if there are more than two ILI runs.

Is Master

The calculated Corrosion Rates, for this Scenario, will be shown in column Short CR in the Internal and External Assessment section.

Odometer tracking accuracy

This parameter is used to match Girth Weld data, see section right upper pane for more details.

Distance matching threshold

This parameter is used to match Defects, see section right lower pane for more details.

Depth matching threshold

This parameter is used to match defects, see section right lower pane for more details.

Defect starts at its circumferential center

If the absolute distance of a Defect starts at S1 then the checkbox should not be ticked. If S1 is in the middle of the Defect then the checkbox should be ticked.

FFS/ILI runs specified in the FFS module

Tick here the two FFS/ILI runs for which defects should be matched and the corrosion rate calculated.

Creating a new Scenario

To create a new Scenario:

  • Click on the Plus button in the upper left corner.

Click on the Plus button to create a new Scenario.

  • In the Name field, enter the desired name of the new Scenario.

  • Tick the Is Master checkbox, if you want the CR from this Scenario to be shown in the Internal and External Corrosion Assessment section.

  • Fill in the remaining data.

  • Tick the checkboxes on the left of the two ILI Runs you want to compare.

Select the two Ili runs you want to compare.

  • Click Save.

Note: If you select just 1 or more than 2 ILI runs, the system will not allow you to save the Scenario and a warning will appear in the upper right corner telling you that 2 ILI runs must be selected.

Editing a Scenario

IMS allows you to change the parameters of your Scenario and adjust the selection of Inspections for comparison. To edit a Scenario:

  • Click the Edit button on the left of the Name of the Scenario.

  • Change the applicable parameters.

  • Untick the checkboxes of the Inspection(s) you want to unselect.

  • Tick the checkboxes of the Insection(s) you want to select.

  • Click Save.

Click Save to save the changes you made to the Scenario.

Assessment

The Assessment tab contains an overview of the Inspection Dates, the Defect List, and the Girth Weld data.

The Assessment Tab is composed of 3 parts: Inspection data, Defect List tab and GirthWelds tab.

1) The Inspection data with the information coming from the Assessment section of the FFS module.

2) The tab Defect List contains the data from the ECH of the ILI run selected above.

3) The tab GirthWelds displays information about the location of each Girth Welds along the Pipeline, allowing you to add or import new Girth Weld data.

Adding Girth Welds

Girth Welds need to be added per Assessment. To add a Girth Weld:

  • Select the ILI Run Inspection Date in the Inspection grid above.

  • Click on the Plus button in the GirthWelds tab.

  • In the Distance, field enter the distance in meters along the Pipeline where the GirthWeld is located.

  • Click Save.

Importing Girth Welds

To import Girth Welds:

  • Select the ILI Run Inspection Date in the Inspection grid.

  • Click on the Import button in the GirthWelds tab.

Click on the Import button.

  • Click Browse and select the file from your computer with the GirthWelds data.

  • Click Next a few times.

  • Click Done.

Calculating the ILI Comparison

When you’ve defined the Scenario and imported the Girth Weld data, you can start the ILI Comparison calculation. To start the calculation:

  • Navigate to the Scenario tab.

  • Click Calculate.

Click Calculate.

The results of the calculation will be shown in the remaining three panes.
