PL Scenario Assessment - Scenario
Take Note
This overview will explain how to use and interpret the Scenario Controls, RBA, and Scenario Sensitivity sections in the Scenario Assessment Module of IMS PLSS. The mentioned sections are the same in the Internal and External tabs.
The upper left pane of the Scenario Assessment module enables you to create new Scenarios and modify their Corrosion Rate, Expected Defect Morphology, and Assessment Code. Additionally, this section allows you to perform calculations using the new parameters you have entered.
Scenario Controls
The Scenario Toolbar provides a variety of features for managing your Scenarios. You can create or delete Scenarios, export them, and reset their values. Additionally, the toolbar allows you to save and execute a Scenario, enabling you to analyze the results based on the adjusted parameters.
Note: The default "New Sensitivity Scenario" is always available and cannot be deleted.
Adding a New Scenario
To add a new Scenario:
Click on the Plus button in the upper left corner.
Enter the Name of the new Scenario.
Click Save.
Deleting a Scenario
To add a new Scenario:
Select the Scenario you want to delete.
Click on the Minus button in the upper left corner.
Click Delete.
Editing a Scenario
To edit a Scenario:
Click the Edit button. This way the Name of the Scenario can be changed.
Click Save.
Resetting a Scenario
Click the Reset button.
A warning will appear asking you to confirm the reset.
Click OK.
This will set all parameters back to the original values as determined by the Integrity Assessment, with no Repairs made and no changes to the MAOP.
Running and Saving a Scenario
Clicking the Save & Run button will perform the analysis using the parameters as shown on the screen.
Take Note
Save and Run button has to be clicked the first time you enter this module
RBA Summary
The RBA Summary section shows the integrity assessment parameters and results per section (as taken from the Risk Based Assessment module). An Integrity Assessment section is a cross-section of Consequence sectioning and the user-defined Degradation Assessment sectioning.
The section bar only displays the location and length of the sections. It cannot be clicked or browsed. The columns Future CR, Expected Defect Morph, and Assessment code are editable, the other columns are read-only.
Editing an RBA Summary
To edit the values in the RBA Summary:
Click the blue Edit button of the Section you want to edit.
In the Future CR field, enter a numeric value.
In the Expected Defect Morph field, select the applicable value form the dropdown menu.
In the Assessment code field, select the applicable value form the dropdown menu.
Initially, if the value is changed, it will be shown in red. The user needs to click the ‘Save & Run’ button from the scenario controls in order to perform a recalculation.
Example:
In the example below, the Future CR of the first section was changed from 0.05 to 0.04 mm/y.
Scenario Sensitivity
In the Scenario Sensitivity section, the Results are shown for both the Original integrity assessment and the Sensitivity analysis.
The shortest Remaining Life and the worst NID of all the sections are displayed, along with the worst Traffic Light color. The section with the shortest Remaining Life may differ from the one with the highest NID. The date of the previous inspection is provided, if available. Initially, the Sensitivity Results are the same as the Original Results. The overall results are read-only.
Transfer to Remedial Actions
Click the Transfer to Activity Planning button to transfer the Defects to be repaired and/or the MAOP Derating percentage to the Remedial Actions module.
Note: A change in either Expected Defect morph, Assessment code, MAOP, or Repairs requires a full recalculation of the data of the last Inspection from the FFS module. This calculation is automatically triggered when clicking the Save & Run button, but it might take some time.
