RCM Release 3.11

October 2019

w-IMS RCM is used to develop a Maintenance strategy for equipment based on a Reliability Centred Maintenance assessment. The following release notes describe the new functionality and improvements in version 3.11.

Besides stabilizations, version 3.11 contains enhanced functionality for Bulk Assignment of Functional Failures and Failure Modes, SIFPro tasks import, Schedule reports and Prioritization at Function level.

Bulk Actions

1. Detecting and warning about possible duplicates

IMSD-10893

When assigning FLOCs/Equipment to System Functional Failures, duplicates will be detected, and the user will be warned.

Duplication is detected when the selected FLOCs/Equipment is already assigned to a system, and, on that system, it is already associated with the same Failure mode in different Functional Failures. In that case, if FLOCs/Equipment is moved to a new system and assigned to its Functional failure, duplicate pairs of FLOCs/Equipment and Failure modes would be created, which are not permitted in IMS RCM.

So, when a FLOCs/Equipment is selected for the Bulk assignment existing systems are first checked. When duplications are detected the user is warned that the selected FLOCs/Equipment will be omitted from the Bulk Action. The user should then first resolve the associated failure modes on the old system, and afterwards, run the Bulk Action functionality to assign the FLOCs/Equipment to a new System and its Functional Failures.

2. Preselecting the Functional failure to map existing analysis

IMSD-12410

On the final screen, the preview of the assignment (System, Functional Failure, and Failure Mode) is shown. If more than one Functional Failure is selected, the Bulk Assign wizard asks the user to select only one, to which all the RCM analysis, from the previous system, will be re-mapped.

This is a mandatory field, so the user cannot proceed with the actions until one Functional Failure has been chosen.

If the user selected only one functional failure in the wizard, this dropdown list will not be shown, as all the Failure modes will be mapped to that selected Functional Failure.

SIFPro Tasks import

IMSD-11809

The functionality to import the tasks from the SIFPro module was added to the importer, in Settings  Data Transfer  Import Data.

Through the import it is possible to import tasks with the following data:

RCM field name

Mandatory

SIFPro dump file column name

Equipment

Yes

SAP Tag

Task name

Yes

Task name

Task type

Yes

Task type

Responsible Work Centre

Yes

Responsible Work Centre

Frequency

Yes

Frequency

Task description

No

-

This data should be prepared by the user in the Excel import file using the appropriate column names. If the column names for the mandatory fields defined by the user are different, they should be correctly mapped in the Step 3 of the wizard.

The Task description field is not mandatory and if it’s not present in the import file it will be concatenated from three SIFPro dump file columns:

  • Global Unique Id
  • Test
  • Req

However, if the user adds the Task description column in the Excel import file, it’s values will have precedence and will be imported through this importer.

The imported tasks are visible on the Equipment detailsRecommended Tasks tab and are distinguished from other tasks by the value in the Task Origin column. For SIFpro tasks, the Task Origin will be set to “SIFPro”.

The imported tasks are also visible on the MEC board with all their details, and labelled with a number, in a violet circle, to distinguish them from the RCM analysis tasks, ECS tasks, etc.

Schedule details report

IMSFB-11538

The RCM Schedule scope details can now be saved through a report template as a PDF or Word document. This can be done by clicking the green button. The same button is also used in other modules and details screens.

After clicking the button, you will be directed to the Custom reports tab. Here, the new template, “RCM Schedule Scope Report”, can be selected.

Then, Generate as PDF or Generate as Word can be clicked, and the report will be created.

Various usability enhancements

1. Prioritization on Functions or Functional Failure levels

IMSFB-10792

Functionality was added to filter Equipment/FLOCs, based on their assignment to a Function or to a Functional failure. Now the user can easily select all the Equipment/FLOCs with the same Function or Functional Failure. Then he can use the Prioritisation Matrix to assign the same priority to all Equipment/FLOCs, belonging to a single Function or Functional Failure.

To select the tags belonging to a Function, use the Select Tags button that can be found next to the function name and description.

To select the tags belonging to a Functional Failure, use the Select Tags button that can be found on the Tag & tag analysis grid title bar, on the right.

Once the tags are selected (in the Selected Flocs/Equipment and Prioritisation grid), the priority can be set on the Prioritisation Matrix. The tags can also be deselected, at any time, via the Select All / Deselect All checkbox in the main grid.

2. ECS – Export current applied strategies & tasks

IMSD-12667

Now, prior to approving a new revision, a list of the Equipment, affected by a current strategy revision, can be exported to Excel.

3. ECS – dropped Frequency Bandwidth checkbox

IMSD-12667

The Frequency Bandwidth checkbox was dropped and the Frequency drop-down filed was renamed to Maximum Interval, as the Frequency High adds no value, and just one frequency is necessary when compared to the Turnaround interval (or Pitstop interval, depending of the Schedule Type) set on Plant or Unit level.

4. ECS – added GSAP long description and Task ID fields

IMSD-12667

Two fields were added to accommodate GSAP Long Text Description and a Task ID.

5. Added Task Description and Task Name in the MEC window

IMSFB-9691

Task Descriptions and Task Names were added to all tasks, shown in the MEC board, irrespective of the task origin, e.g. RCM Analysis, ECS Strategy, SIFPro import, etc.

6. Added Materials/spare parts field in the RCM Analysis import

IMSFB-11018

Materials/spare parts can now be exported for import in the RCM Analysis.

7. RCM instructional videos

IMSD-12416

A set of comprehensive instructional video's is available to users in the Related documents list and playable directly in the tool, to assist them with the effective use of the w-IMS RCM tool.

The set of instructional videos will be extended over time in the tool.
