Step 10 Assess Confidence

Aim

Assess the Confidence in the DM’s forecast, i.e., assessment of StF and the RL (for AR DMs).

Confidence, together with Criticality (Step 9) and RL (Step 6), is used to determine the Maximum Inspection Interval (MII) and Inspection Strategy (IS) (Step 11). For AR DMs and some NAR DMs, a better Confidence will mean longer inspection intervals, since the IF increases. For NAR DMs, a high Confidence reduces the monitoring requirements. Note: Confidence does not apply to all DMs and Special Emphasis Components.
