An RCM Analysis ends with a set of recommended maintenance tasks. Those tasks become executable work once they exist in the CMMS as Maintenance Plans. This article explains how to assign a Strategy to Tasks on a FLOC or Equipment and sync them to the CMMS directly from IMS, so Maintenance Plans can be created without anyone re-entering the Tasks by hand. A Strategy is a predefined set of activities and their frequency of execution, held in the CMMS and referenced in IMS; the Strategy you select controls which Tasks and frequencies are sent.
Important
This feature is only available in the RCM module.
Definitions and scope
Term | Definition |
|---|---|
Strategy | Defined set of actions and/or activities and their frequency of execution defined in the CMMS. They are referenced in IMS (codebook, list). |
Sync direction (Inbound vs Outbound) | Sync direction is referenced from the perspective of the CMMS
|
Initiation | Sync is initiated from IMS, more precisely from Tasks present on FLOC and/or Equipment in RCM methodology. |
Feature prerequisites
Item | Prerequisites |
|---|---|
(1) Application setting | “StrategyBasedMP” setting is turned on (B value=1). |
(2) Configuration of strategies | The list of strategies can be viewed and configured (Add, Edit, Delete) in the Settings repository. |
Caution
To configure (1) the user must be PEI Admin in the PEI methodology. This is done by a CSA (contact Support).
To configure (2) the user must be RCM Admin and in the RCM methodology
If a strategy is in use, deletion is not possible.

Reviewing the state flow (contextual information) on a Task level
The Recommended Tasks section features a dedicated CMMS Plan column, which displays the current request status and detailed task-level information. There are three layers of contextual information while the request is still not processed.
State:
PENDING (Request is Pending for processing)
ERROR (Request resulted with an error)
IMS Request number - ID of IMS request used as a reference
Strategy ID - Providing contextual information of the Strategy
Note
There is no Complete or Done state.
If the request is completed it will display the ID from the CMMS (External system), marking its completion with a response ID as a confirmation.
Example: Response to successful request
Request is pending: PENDING-{IMS Request number}-{StrategyID}

Request is completed: {CMMS_ID}
To see more detail related to the CMMS Plan:
Click on the link in the CCMS Plan column (IMS Request number or CMMS_ID) to observe the below dialogue in a read-only format.

Reviewing the comprehensive list of all Maintenance plan requests (log)
