RCM Systems - Creating / Importing

Prev Next

To create an RCM System, you need to divide the Unit into logical parts and define each part to be a System with its Function and its Functional Failures. To ensure reliable analysis results, consult Operations to identify the Unit's dominant failure modes. Define Systems, Functions, and Functional Failures in line with these failure modes.

Creating a System Manually

To manually create a System, do the following:

  1. Click Systems to go to the Systems Main Screen (Grid List).

  2. Click the button next to System List.

  1. In the New System window, enter the required information:

  • Select the Parent ID.

  • Enter the System Name.

  • Clear Active if the System should not be active.

  • Select the Manual Overall Priority checkbox to manually indicate priority. Choose between T, Y, or X. These prioritization levels match the following RCM Criticality assessment levels:

    • T matches N+L levels,

    • Y matches M+MH levels and

    • X matches H+E levels.

  1. Click Save.

The new System is created, and the System details page opens.

The System details page consists of the following info sections: Details, Drawings and Documents, Description, Study, Remark, Tags and Prioritization, Functions and Functional Failures, and Attachments.

Use the Description section to provide the System description by illustrating the basic composition of the System and providing a common understanding of the System design. Use this section to register and reference key design aspects with significant effects on the reliability of the System. As the Unit is not changed/modified, the System description is not expected to change either.

Use the Remark section to enter the latest insights and issues regarding the Unit. Sometimes, ongoing initiatives may lead to changes and modifications that may require you to make remarks on the influence of the RCM study.

Import Systems

You can create multiple Systems by importing data from a file.

You can import one or more Systems using the Import Wizard. See the instruction video: Systems Episode 2 Video.

To obtain an import template, use Export for Import. The exported file contains the required columns and format for System data. After populating the file, import it through the Settings import functionality.

For detailed instructions on exporting a template, preparing the import file, and importing data, see Importing Data via Settings.

Note

To import Functional Failures in a System, specify the PLE. You typically define the PLE under the Unit in the Top Section under Settings.
