
The Import drawings section can be used to import Drawings.
Importing Drawings and Documents
Note
When Importing CAD File formats such as .dwg, .dxf, and .dwf, IMS will only import the model geometry from the model space. Any layouts will not be imported.
To import drawings and documents:
Go to Settings \ Data Transfer \ Import drawings.

Import Drawings Tool.
Click Browse.
Select the files.
Tips
Use <Ctrl> to select multiple files.
The importer is able to import files in .dwg, .dxf, .dwf, .tif, .tiff, and .pdf formats.
Click Upload to upload the drawings.
DXF Configuration in Settings
2D Isometric Drawings
Many sites map their condition monitoring locations (CMLs) onto 2D isometric drawings. 2D isometric drawings are flat representations of 3D drawings. This method of drawing provides a convenient method to display the information in a 3D drawing in a 2D format for ease of use by inspectors and engineers.
Most often, sites define condition monitoring locations (CMLs) in their AutoCAD drawings as a Block Reference, combined with attributes.
In the example below, the highlighted condition monitoring location (A1,001) has been selected in AutoCAD, displaying the Block Reference’s properties (left-hand pane), including a Name (CML POINT), and the CIRCUIT (A1), and CML (001) Attributes.

CTB Settings
IMS Drawings support the use of CTB files which specify colour-dependent plot styles for CAD files. CTB files can be used to assign plot styles to CAD drawings in IMS to improve the look and feel of CAD-based Reports in IMS.

Upload CTB Files
To upload a CTB file:
Navigate to Settings → Common Data → Manage CTB files.
Click + in the CTB Upload Grid.

Select a CTB file using your operating system’s file dialog, and click Open.
Your file will be displayed in the CTB Upload Grid after it has been uploaded.
Apply CTB Style to Drawings
To apply a CTB Style to Reports containing Drawings in IMS:
Navigate to Settings → Common Data → DXF Settings.
Open the DXF Configuration from the Grid by clicking the Edit button on the left side.
Select a CTB file from the dropdown in the REPORT LAYERS: Use CTB File: field.
Click Save.

With the CTB file selected for the DXF Configuration, Drawings which have been assigned that DXF Configuration will have the CTB file applied when creating Reports.
DXF Configuration
To be able to map CMLs on AutoCAD isometric drawings to CMLs in IMS, you need to set up DXF Configuration Settings to define how objects will be mapped. To access the DXF Configuration page:
Navigate to Settings → Maintenance → Common Data → DXF Configuration.
Create a new DXF Configuration by clicking + in the DXF Configuration toolbar.

Click + to define a new DXF Configuration.
For the example above, the Block Reference name is CML POINT, Circuit is CIRCUIT, and CML Name is CML. To create this DXF Configuration:
Click + Add Configuration next to CML.
Enter CML POINT in the Block ref name field.
Next, click + Add mapping.
Select Circuit from the dropdown and enter CIRCUIT in the text field.
Again, click + Add mapping.
Select CML Name from the dropdown and enter CML in the text field.
Finally, click Save to save your configuration.

Name your DXF Configuration and define Mappings.
Now, when you Import Drawings into IMS and assign them to an Equipment, CMLs and Circuits will automatically be mapped to the appropriate objects in IMS.
Adding a Drawing to Equipment
Once the drawing file has been uploaded successfully, the second step is adding the Drawing from the storage and assigning it to a dedicated piece of Equipment through the Equipment Details Page.
To assign a drawing to an Equipment:
Navigate to the Drawings and Documents section of the Equipment Details Page.
Populate the Name field.
Pick the Extension(s) type.
Click Search.
If uploaded correctly, the drawing file should be visible in the Drawings tab.
Click Apply to link the drawing to the Equipment.
